stayed in the radisson blu in birmingham for one night on 24th march 2013. On arrival the hotel looks very grand , the staff were very friendly. The room was very nice , the bed was one of the most comfortable beds ive ever slept in. The following morning we went down to breakfast which was excellent. Huge selection of everything. will definitely stay again ! !

Stayed here overnight in March 2013, we chose the hotel as we were going to the hippodrome that evening. It is indeed very close to the hippodrome and the rail station making it a very convenient location.
We booked the more expensive business class room for the space and for the breakfast, as well as this we booked into the hotels restaurant for the theatre special evening meal.
The room.
The rooms was spacious and we paid extra for a higher floor and ended up on the 16th with a great view. The room however was dated and was long overdue a refurb. There were tiles missing in the bathroom, a couple of the lights in the bathroom had blown so it was dull and the overall look was shabby. We got to bed on the first night and decide to turn on the TV and found the remote didn't work from the bed, you had to stand in the middle of the room to change channel. Annoying.
We had breakfast in bed and the breakfast was to say the least average. The sausages were horrible and greasy, the bacon fatty and the scrambled egg was obviously powdered. Overall not worth paying extra for.
We ate in the hotel restaurant which was below average. The food was cold, I ordered the fito misto and it was stodgy and overlooked. I left most of mine as did my wife. The service was good but the food let it down.
I know this is a huge hotel chain and perhaps they have to do things a certain way but for the money it just was not worth it. The staff are brilliant but it could be so much better.

Overall - If your having a night away maybe to the theatre, pick somewhere else.

The Radisson Blu is located near the centre of Birmingham, within easy walking distance of New Street railway station. It is a short distance from the huge Bullring shopping area. Excellent check-in staff - really welcoming and helpful. My room was on the 9th floor, very well appointed and comfortable. The hotel is located at the junction of several roads, so there is some outside noise. I found this disturbing on the Saturday night I was there. It seemed that the police cars and ambulances were in competition to see who had the loudest sirens!

The food, as with other Radisson establishments is a ripoff in my opinion. 14 UK pounds for breakfast (10 if you book through the check-in ), and though it is plentiful, it just is not worth that money. (Why is bacon always shoved under the grill for a short time in the UK - really well cooked crispy bacon is almost impossible to find). The staff in the dining area were not nearly as good as at the front desk and room-service Better to eat at one of the plentiful places near the hotel

Room Tip: Probably the higher the better. It is a tall narrow curved building, with less than 40 rooms on eac...

how fabulous being given a PEEPS, a conact in event of emergency and shown where the safety area is. An absolute surprise and very welcome. Such a shame other major chains do not consider this.
the hotel lobby bar was unfortunately an overflow or a party that was going on on another floor, this also meant that we could not dine due to it being a private event.
Room and bathroom, clean, bright and well presented.

We stayed at the Radisson Blu in Birmingham for 1 night over the weekend. The staff were helpful, the rooms were spacious, with plenty of room for our travel cot, as well as being modern and clean; the bed was comfortable too! We stayed on the 6th foor, so there was a level of traffic noise which may disturb some people, particularly light sleepers. Having said this, the location is excellent for the city centre, with the Bull Ring, The Mailbox, Sealife Centre, etc. all within easy walking distance. The buffet breakfast was also good. The only downside really was that the hotel does not have its own parking facilities and instead uses an NCP car park behind the hotel. Although this is extremely convenient, it is quite costly with 24 hours being charged at £14, including the discount obtained by paying for your parking at the hotel itself.

Room Tip: Having stayed on the 6th floor and heard some traffic noise, I would be tempted to ask for a room on...

Perfect central location but rooms are bit dated and need a renovation. Staff are very friendly and helpful. If your driving there is a NCP car park round the back of hotel, cost £14 for 24 hours and the hotel validates your ticket at reception. If you want more luxury stay at the Hyatt Regency on Broad street.
