We visited last night after seeing it advertised in our local paper and then checking the reviews here. We went specifically to watch the comedy which happens every second Thursday. I am not a great pub person and was not sure what to expect...............blimey, was I impressed! This is the most delightful pub, kinda hidden away in the Jewelry quarter. from the minute we walked in we got the great atmosphere. This is a traditional pub which has been lovingly restored and then with some really stylish and trendy bits added. The beer and cider selection really impressed my partner with some stuff even he had not heard of. We were not that hungry so went for the lite bites, I had fish with home made tarter sauce and he had a steak and mushroom dish, both were wonderful, there is no other word really, such a high quality of food from a back street pub and the chips were great too. All the lite dishes are around a fiver and with generous portions. We then went up stairs and got to see 5 comedians for a £4 each admission fee. While there were a very mixed bag, there was lots of laughs and they gave their all. There were only about 15 people in the audience but the atmosphere was brilliant and I felt as though I were in someones front room it was so relaxed.
We had such a good night for a very reasonable price we will definitely visit again. Well done to the owners and staff to create such a lovely watering hole.

went to the red lion for a bit of a work get together, there was around ten of us and although most ordered steak they all came together which was good, my t-bone was cooked to perfection and home made chips wonderful, my friends belly pork was melt in the mouth. the bar down stairs was lively and had a nice buzz although the drinks are slightly pricey but what would you expect in the jewellery quarter. loads of ales and lagers, couldnt fault the place

We seem to always go to this pub in the JQ. The staff are lovely and very friendly. Food quality is great and we have always received great food. It is a traditional pub with copies of Banksy's artwork - would definetley recommend!

Went here for lunch, very busy as it was a Friday lunchtime. Food was great, in fact if we had realised how big the baguettes were we could have shared one between us. My wife had the chicken and bacon and I had the steak, onion and mushroom, both were really hot when they came. Great value for money, the only downside was we had to wait for quite a while before the food came ( but that was because it was so popular)

We went to the red lion after a visit to the local jewellry museum (well worth a look) a traditional pub with etched mirrors and dark wood panels it was warm and cosy on a brisk winter's day. They had some great real ales plus two Belgium pilsners. The food was simple, plentiful and good quality. Good beer, good food and friendly staff, what's not to like? Four of us ate and drank well for under £40.
