“Bit draughty!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 7, 2013

After a couple of failed attempts to book via e-mail I gave up and phoned to book our LivingSocial deal. It was a Saturday evening 7.30pm, unfortunately we were seated at a table very close to the door which meant every time the door opened or closed we were subjected to a great draught blowing straight at us - there were no other tables free to change to. The tables and chairs are almost as if made for "diddy men" as small and with a very low back which proved uncomfortable to be sat at. We both had scallops for starters which were really lovely. For main I had Sea Bass with Hollandaise sauce which was very tasty but unusual I thought to be served with either vegetables or boiled potatoes, not both - he had the Steak which was a little over done for the medium request. All in all a good value voucher but not convinced we would go again if paying full price. The food could have done with being served hotter as only warm. Not sure I would want to be eating there on a Friday or Saturday evening when busy with people - more of a midweek venue I feel - lucky for us it was the 1st Saturday after Christmas and so relatively quiet and once our meal was finished we moved to more comfortable seats.

This place has had more manager changes and menu changes in the past year than anywhere else I can think of. Its gone from bistro frozen to tapas, Greek mezze, and now is some wierd mesh of everything. It's primarily and cocktail bar, but has a broad food menu with a few tables only, which makes you question how fresh the stock must be as surely it would have to be frozen to ensure it to be not wasted. Ive eaten here, and the food is ok, and the cocktails very cheap during happy hour, but I doubt how value for money is it food wise. I think you're probably best off at wetherspoons. And it's less stuck up.

“Too strong drinks and got food poisoning”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 24, 2012

First time we have been to this place we thought it looked lovely and they had good tasting champagne cocktails.
Second time we tried some chicken and got both food poisoning.
We still though, all right, maybe people are not buying food here so it's just place for drinks.
So we wanted to give a one last try. We had tried different cocktails and all we could taste was the strong alcohol. They put vodka and gin into everything; didn't even finish some drinks and left very disappointed...

“Excellent new place to eat in Birmingham”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 19, 2012

I dined at Nuvo recently, didnt make a booking, just felt the need to eat after a long day shopping. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised that a venue known best for its cocktails and being a club, could provide such first class food and service.

The staff were friendly and keen to serve, the food was outstanding, I gather after asking that the chefs in the kitchen are associated with the head chef over at Edmunds. I highly recommend the pork belly and the cheesecake, not to mention several of the cocktails!
