The Royal Angus Hotel
Ranked #71 of 118 Hotels in Birmingham
Reviewed November 22, 2013

I was very disappointed, as we've stayed at the Royal Angus before and this time didn't seam to be as good. The food in the restaurant was average and they onloy had a limited selection of drinks available at the bar. Will try somewhere else next time in Birmingham.

Great hotel in a good location. The hotel was exceptionally clean and the housekeeping staff were very friendly. Very quiet and very comfy beds! Breakfast was really great with a wide selection of cooked breakfast, cereals, breads, pastries and fruit etc.Food in the restaurant was also good but service was some time very slow. Overall a great stay - highly recommended.

Stayed at the hotel November, very quiet with what appeared very few guests which was great. Room ok no problems but the cost of parking is shocking so be prepared. Location great and ideal for your shopping 15 minutes from bullring and 5 minutes from snow hill. I have never known a hotel so quiet with few guests on a weekend night, only one person in the bar and I saw no more than 3 guests in our 18 hour stay. Parking had 50% reduction but still cost £12.05, alarming! That's london prices

Was surfing the net looking for a hotel to do some shopping at the bullring in Birmingham when came across a deal for bed and breakfast for 2 nights stay plus dinner for 1 night at a very reasonable rate for a twin bedded room just on the out skirts of Birmingham city center!!!! Room facilities were fine and suitable for our stay but should have know the deal for dinner was too good to be true!!!! One hour into dinner service and they had ran out of steaks which my son requested so we decided to go out and eat instead. Breakfast was very average and disappointing for this caliber of hotel as most of it was cold and not very pleasant. Rooms were clean and tidy and the staff were very helpful but sorry would not stay here again but would seek out even a travel lodge!!

Room Tip: Think all the rooms are of the same standard which is fine

We have stayed @ Thistle hotels before and this one didnt dissapoint at all, we had a 2 night break with a meal on the 1st night, three course meal was excellent, room very nice ( Edgebaston suite )but the overall view was the staff, all could not do enough to help in any way , happy, courteous , if fact very 1st class. The little sting is the car parking, you get 50% off and its a good job , no wonder the owner of NCP car parks can afford a big yatch.the hotel is a 10 min walk to the Bull Ring and Snow Hill station is a few mins walk away.

This was my time here for more than 10 years. The hotel has been completely refurbished to a high standard.

Our Laterooms deal with breakfast was very good. Breakfast offered was a wide range of food and of high quality

Fairly tired hotel in central Birmingham. Out of choice would stay at a Premier or somewhere like that next time. Tired and small room, bathroom especially worn.
We booked through Late Rooms because the deal said breakfast included but when we got there it wasn't
Staff were not very customer focused. Lots of large groups of people and this meant lots of noise - the 6am wake up call from the room next door was not appreciated.
The previous Saturday I had stayed in a Travelodge up the road - they provided a 24 hour parking ticket for the nearby NCP for £5.50 - The Thistle charged £12
This probably was once a great hotel but distinctly lacking in all areas now
