Crowne Plaza Hotel Birmingham NEC

Although i got in on a cheap rate (£69) by God did they try and make it up in other departments..now don't get me wrong, just to make this clear before i carry on - i'm not tight and i'm not short of a few quid..

One bottle of Sol beer and one gin and tonic - £15

One bowl of tomato soup and one (overdone and tasteless) burger - £22

There was 3 of us staying, and needless to say, we didnt eat there again, and managed to abstain from the bevvy due to the rip-off prices..there's expensive and then theres out-and-out rape. I've been to clubs in Marbella that look cheap next to this place..

Other issues included freezing cold room (heating didn't work), phone in room didnt work and internet broadband charged at £7.50 an hour!

Even the Hilton Metropol (much nicer hotel) was cheaper than this.

They have you by the balls because of its proximity to the NEC, but do yourself a favour, you'll save money in the long run by staying somewhere like the Arden Hotel which is about a mile away.

Truly disgusting, and with trade as it is at the moment, this hotel does nothing to support the customers it attracts.

Oh, another thing, nobody speaks English - try complaining at someone who doesn't understand the finer nuances of our language, and you're banging your head against a brick wall, so i thought i'd complain via Trip Advisor.,

Stay away or you WILL get mugged.

Stayed at this hotel on a park and fly package through APP Holiday Extras at £69. Which was cheaper than the airport parking at Birmingham. I couldnt fault this hotel - it was very peaceful. The bed was great, everything was in the room that was required for a one night stay.

Ate in the restaurant which was ok so i would recommend that you eat in the bar upstairs.

Would stay again and definately recommend it,

The advantages are that this Hotel is just a few minutes walk from the N.E.C. The rooms are spacious, clean and very comfortable in every aspect. The food is excellent (although rather expensive) and the service was definately above average.

Having placed a food order, we were advised that the order could take about 30 minutes....BUT our order had arrived in less than 20 minutes of which was an added bonus.

The staff were friendly, helpful and very polite of which made our stay more welcoming.

This Hotel offers a much better service than most and i recommend it to anyone that is visiting the N.E.C.

My only disadvantages is the actual 'cost' as i find this hotel very expensive and way over-priced. The food is excellent - but you could get the same service less than a few miles away at an affordable and reasonable price. This Hotel is ideal if you live way outside the area and wish to be of walking distance to an N.E.C event.

Excellent service though...and highly recommended.

Stayed at the Crowne Plaza with a couple of friends for an event at the NEC. The place is especially close to the Pavillion and arena, literally five minutes walk.

Very nice place overall with large, comfortable, well kitted out rooms and good common areas. Check in was quick, friendly and effecient, as was check out. Concierge service was very good - when one of our party forgot the safe code, duty manager was up within two
minutes and did an ID check before unlocking. Front desk found a Merc' dealership that was open late for an elderly woman who was having car trouble etc etc etc

Didn't try the restaurant, as we ate out or at the event venue, but the bar was nice, and pretty well priced for an airport hotel. On the
subject of food, if you're staying for an event and fancy a nice Indian, there are many in Birmingham, but a good one which is very close is the Shabar, just down the Coventry road towards Brum (actually on Arden Oak road on the right - well worth a visit, we go every year.)

Overall much nicer and cheaper than the nearby Hilton, with better staff to boot. If you're overnighting for a flight, or going to something at the NEC (especially at the Southern end of the complex) you stay here - it's that easy.
