Top place to stay, people are friendly, fun and approachable. Staff looked after us, kept us upto date and made to feel like royalty! Not bad for a Premier Inn. Reccomend this to all, taxi to town cost £7-£8 too

The property is clean. Ensure to carry adequate snacks as there no shops nearby, especially when traveling children or elderly. Take extra money for taxi as there are no public transport near this partiular branch of premier inn. Especial if the purpose of your trip is for shopping at the shopping centre, the bull ring or even any other shopping mall or public attractions. Food there is ok if you or travelling companion(s) is/ not forsy with food. Otherwise, at the city center there few and affordable resturants and take away shops . Mr Macdonald, Greg, Sandwich shops, Kentucy chicken A.K.A kFC and an organic homemade burger / sandwich resturant. A Chinese and Japanese eat-in or takeaways are all within the sudroundings of the city centre. There is also an open friuts and vegetable market nearby. There is also an indoor market where one can shop for raw meat, chicken, fish and general groceries.

I recently stayed on a business trip and really enjoyed my stay. The hotel was clean and efficient, the member of staff were brilliant, especially Bernie who was really attentive. The good selection and meal deal were great value for money and the portion sizes were fantastic. The only down side was the heat in the rooms. The windows could only be opened a inch due to the safety mechanism and they did provide a small fan which basically just blew the dry heat around the room. Sleeping in 29digrees each night wasn't the most pleasant experience especially when there was no frige in the room to access a cold drink during the night when the bar was closed.

...But it's slowly getting worse.

I have stayed here 5 nights a week for approx 25 weeks in 2013 (so far) so I feel I can give a detailed impression.

Firstly, let me say if you're coming for one or two nights (except for the price on certain days £90+ without breakfast) it's probably exactly what you need, clean and with free parking (a definite plus).

Location is poor, in a warehouse/industrial area, with New Street train station half an hour walk away. It's next to a busy main road and there are alarms that go off all day and all night (in the industrial areas).

Rooms are a good size but get ridiculously hot and even though i'm in a new wing, there is no air-con.

Restaurant is hit and miss, decent menu - but not always cooked well, and more often than not VERY slow service. *In all fairness, this isn't the servers fault, but they don't always do enough to make up for it (but on a few occasions they've gone out of their way to make up for delays and errors - though less times than they should - and there's been many).

Wi-fi is very poor but you do get 30minutes free a day.

Vending machines and lift are not working 30% of the time.

The majority of staff are friendly and helpful, but I'm not always sure it's sincere. But again, this may be because I stay for long periods and i notice this. I've donated to every single charity they have promoted and/or good cause, or sponsored staff when they do charity events - does get a bit much... And at their convenience something can be offered to you one week, and not the next.

I have 2 weeks left but will be back in Birmingham in September, I'm pretty sure I won't be staying here.

But they've done well out of me, £10K+ spent on staying here (and food, drinks, wi-fi and vending). Certainly NOT worth that.

We stayed here while going to Drayton Manor and Cadburys world for the weekend. We didn't expect much we just wanted somewhere cheap to stay. On arrival we were greeted nicely and went straight to our room. It was simple but very clean. We asked for more towels and nothing was a problem. We decided to eat at the hotel for our evening meal and opted for the 3 course, a drink and breakfast for £22.99 deal which is fantastic price. The food was very very good! You could not fault it at all, the best meal we've had in ages. Also the breakfast was delicious too! I definitely recommend this hotel and if we ever travel to Birmingham again we will be returning here and using premier inn again!

We didn't plan to stay here but found we needed a place to park overnight before we met our train. The rooms were nice and quiet, the bedding was good. The hotel breakfast was served in their restaurant and was good as a breakfast buffet usually gets. The neighborhood that the hotel is in left something to be desired. We avoided going out at night but did go eat at a pub nearby while it was still light. The only thing I objected to about the whole stay was a member of their staff (they had the hotel logo on their shirt) was asking for donations for a cause in the lobby and you could not avoid her. She would not be turned down without an argument. I was offended by that and mentioned it to the hotel in an internal review. Other than that this place was busy with customers and seemed to be a good place to stay.
