Premier Inn Birmingham Central East
Ranked #52 of 118 Hotels in Birmingham
Reviewed July 26, 2011

We stayed here for one night on 25th of July. The hotel is in a great location, around 20 mins walk to the bull ring or a 10 minute drive (there is a lot of traffic in Birmingham!) There are a couple of decent pubs that serve food around 5 mins walk away. (The sack of potatoes and Scream) The reception staff are beyond helpful and very polite and friendly. The rooms are large and spotless and the beds are incredibly comfortable. A nice added touch was a fan that had been placed in the room due to the hot weather. We booked a brilliant meal deal which included a choice of around 6 starters, 6 mains and 6 desserts, a drink and a all you can eat breakfast the next day. Menus are provided in the room which is a great help and there is plenty of choice that isn't induced in the deal.
The best part of the hotel is the on-site, private, FREE car park, which is a God send in Birmingham!
To sum it up, this is an excellent hotel and if i needed to return to Birmingham again i would defiantly stay here.

There are some good things about this hotel. The rooms are a good size, all the staff we met were friendly and helpful and the hotel has a large free car park. It also has a bar with late opening and a restaurant. This latter bit is important as the hotel is not close to places to eat

The hotel is located on the fringe of the city centre where the streets are a mix of redeveloped modern and old-style industrial back streets. The hotel is handy for Aston University campus, but is on the other side of the city centre to the shops and night life and, although it has smaller rooms, the Broad Street canal side Premier Inn is much better located. The worst bit of our one night stay was the fifty minutes it took for a breakfast to arrive. We arrived to be seated at 09:40 and after a wait to be seated, wait to have the order taken and wait for the food, the cooked meal arrived at 10:30. My wife had chosen to have the continental breakfast, but many items had run out and were not replenished. I felt sorry for the busy and ever cheery staff who were trying to make the best of a bad job.

This is by no means a cheap PI but others in Birmingham are better located (and can deliver breakfast in less than 50 minutes) Top marks for effort to the staff though.

Good hotel if you want to be just outside of the busy town centre, might be a bit awkward for those who don't drive as it seems you would have to walk around a large one way system to get into town. Room was great, very big, comfy large shower and really friendly staff. Couldn't believe how helpful they were and really knew their stuff about the local area. Good secure car park

We stayed at the Premier Inn Birmingham to be close to Villa Park when going to a concert. On arrival the receptionist was very warm, friendly and kind. She was aware that we were visiting for the concert and offered us a map & directions to the venue.
The room was spotless and the beds were large & comfortable, with plenty of sheets, blankets & pillows available. Although the room was a little hot, the staff had provided a fan in the room which cooled us down nicely!
We were reluctant to get out of our comfy beds the next morning but were glad we did as the breakfast was excellent & freshly prepared -lots of choice too.
Check out was not until 12 (most places are at 11) so we had chance to relax before our journey home.
We would highly recommend this Premier Inn to everyone, we left feeling like a friend!

I would recommend this premier inn for it's great service, friendly staff, comfy beds and very good food. The accommodation is basic but very well maintained. It's very clean and the beds are amazingly comfortable, as are the pillows - This really makes all the difference when you need a good night's sleep! There was no noise from outside the building and although building work was taking place it didn't have any impact on our stay.

Room Tip: Walking distance to Villa Park football ground

For £29 my husband and I got a first class room with the most comfortable bed imaginable on Sunday 19th June 2011. Both room and en suite and indeed the whole hotel was spotless. But it was the kindness, consideration and eagerness to accommodate customers by the staff which deserves special mention. Our receptionist was cheerfulness personified. We had booked 2 rooms one for my husband and I and one for our daughter and her 18 month child and when we asked if we could have ground floor accommodation our receptionist granted our wish with 2 rooms adjacent.. The room was large with a huge bed and couch, tea and coffee making facilities, hair drier and TV. There was also a fan in case the room was too warm. The ensuite had a bath with a shower. Both room and en suite were spotess. After putting or luggage in our rooms we 3 adults and baby went for a cup of coffee to refresh ourselves after our drive from dover. The Costa coffee was delicious and the waitress then brought us a plate of iscuits free gratis plus crayons and colouring materials to amuse the toddler. We had dinner later in the restaurant, with a very adequate selection of food on the menu. There was a high chair for the toddler and when his mother asked if she might have a little bowl of mash potatoes and gravy for him it was provided with a smile. Like the receptionist the waitress chatted to us an a lovely friendly manner and the food was delicious. Any of the cleaning staff whom we met on our journeys were equaly as friendly as receptionist or waitresses, holding doors open to asist us and speaking so friendly to us. We were staying one night so checked out about 11am but we were meeting friends in Birmingham city thet day and this hotel is within easy walking og the city through the grounds of Aston University we were allowed to leane our car in the car park until that evening.
Was there any down side. Yes one tiny glitch. Free wi fi is not provided. There are a few wi fi options. We choose buying a card which costs £5 and gives you just one hour on your computer which we used on Sunday night.19th. We thought this was a steep charge but we needed it to make contact with the friends we were meeting the following morning. On the following morning there was further necessity to contact our friends again and our card which we had used the previous night [and which we felt we had not clocked up one hour] would not function so we bought anothe £5 card of which we used approx 5minutes and as we were again staying in a Premier Inn in Chester that night {20th] we assumed we would be able to use it there. Alas when we arrived in Chester this was not the case. We were on our way back to Ireland havibg spent 2 weeks in Mainland Europe where wi fi was free gratis everywhere we stayed. We felt there should have been free wi fi in the Premier Inn but that if it was necessary to incur a charge £5 for one hour was somewhat steep
But apart from this one fault there was nothing but goodness about this hotel and its staff

Room Tip: Book far in advance for a room at £29 and do it ot
