“Modern Boutique hotel in heart of Birmingham”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 8, 2014

I absolutely loved staying here. Very modern, extremely clean, powerful showers, comfortable beds. The staff were very helpful to cater to our needs. Although it is right in the centre of Birmingham there are plenty of parking options including £5 parking for the entirety of your stay if you validate your ticket at the hotel when you park at Selfridges. It is only a 5min walk from the Bullring and 10mins away from new street station too so ideally located. There is virtually no difference between the city and executive room with the only difference being you get a small sofa in the executive. The choice of breakfast was first class and the bar was open for 24 hours. Overall a fantastic stay and highly recommended!

Room Tip: City rooms are no different to executive so don't pay the extra cost.

From the moment I walked in, the staff was warm, professional and welcoming. The standard was maintained throughout my stay. The hotel has a very modern looking interior, technology friendly and clean. It is a five minute walk away from Selfridges, Moore Street train station and M & S.

My favourite feature of the hotel, was the hotel room speakers - Bluetooth connected.

Hotel La Tour, staff members you have set the bar, thank you once again for a wonderful stay.

We stayed here after a concert at the LG Arena and went shopping the next day. The hotel is spotless, modern and rooms was really great. Plus we booked through Secret Escapes so got an exec room and breakfast for £90.
Rooms were fair size, staff were very helpful, dinner in the restaurant was lovely - maybe a bit pricey. Very reasonable parking at Selfridges, only £5 for 24 hours+

The only thing I would say is the shower pressure was weak and there are no mini bars in the room so when you're gasping for a bottle of water in the middle of the night you're out of luck!

A Fantastic hotel at reasonable prices. Very modern. The staff were very friendly. The hotel offers private hotel parking at extra cost. Nice bar area to relax. Comfy clean bed. Room service was amazing and I Can't think of anything bad to say.

Overall - a pleasant stay but some of the feature they put in to really lift it back fired.

The bad - which are all fairly minor:

The instructions on making the wireless sound system didn't make any sense (I have a degree in Electrical Engineering and worked in a theatre as a sound man) and the, I think, vital button disappeared back in to the wall with the fitting when I tried to press it.

We were on the fifth floor and the pressure in the shower was bad. This might have been because it was a rain shower, if so then you were miss sold it as a good thing. It was probably a combination.

Out side the main entrance smelled very very very bad. Like dead things.

The good:
I wanted to steal the bed.

The aircon was easy and did the job.

The bed again, because it was that good.

Couldn't hear anything despite it being very busy most of the night.

The location is great.

I'd stay again.

Unfortunately we decided before we even stayed that Hotel La Tour would not get a very good review. This is because of our booking experience.

We were visiting Birmingham for an afternoon/evening event and the event organisers arranged a special deal with Hotel La Tour, so we called to book at the special rate. The hotel refused to honour the deal, despite the fact that we were booking months in advance, and when we asked for prices on all the different room types, the prices they quoted over the phone were much higher than available on their website!

Anyway, we stayed for our one night, which was a Friday. Our stay was pleasant and we were impressed that our standard room had a king-size bed. The only negative thing we noticed about the room was that there was very little wardrobe space, which was fine for our one-night stay, but not for much longer. The buffet breakfast in the morning had a good range of food, and the chefs were working hard to ensure the cooked food was hot and fresh.

Having been unable to get a room in the Hyatt, the Malmaison or Hotel Du Vin, I spotted this little gem on tripadviser. it lived up to and exceeded my expectations. It is fairly central, within a short walk of Moor Street Station and a 5 minutes more to New St Station. the automated check in whilst "gimmicky" as it's new, was great and simple to use. The decor of the hotel is modern and clean and i had a room on the 7th floor, i asked for a high floor. You need your key card to access the floor, great for security minded people, The rooms are pretty much automated too, with great wifi connectivity etc, included in the room rate! The room itself was spacious, clean comfy beds with lovely linen. The bathroom too is totally functional, clean and everything you need in White Company products. Flat screen TV is a bit big for the room, but that is my only complaint.
Quiet room, didn't hear any other guests, so i assume good insulation. and air-conditioned, Welcoming and helpful staff. Check out so simple an no queues with automated system!
Huge bar, but didn’t really get to enjoy it. Will definitely stay again, but next time 1st choice.
