“Really Good Pub and good value”
Reviewed November 18, 2013

We have been here a few times for Sunday lunch and came here for a friends birthday. We booked the whole of the second sitting and they did an excellent job of managing and bringing out the orders for 30 of us. The roasts are excellent - it's real home cooked food at a very good price. The beer choice is excellent too. Lovely atmosphere with the regulars who go every week. Sometimes I feel a bit sorry for the staff (they knew 30 of us were coming plus other diners and there was one girl covering the bar - she was the same girl that did all the orders for dinner and collected all the dirty plates!) will definitely go back again however.

“Welcoming and nostalgic”
Reviewed November 5, 2013

As soon as we walked in,i immediately felt welcomed and just wished, that i had a lovely little pub like this for my local !!.We started with a drink in the lounge ,i tried a guest beer as my aperitif which hit the spot nicely. Then ate our meal in the restaurant which i had booked for my Mother's Birthday treat. And what a treat it was, to enjoy delicious home cooked food at a very reasonable price. My Mum and i had the three course Sunday lunch priced at - £12.50 . But for those less greedy ,you can opt for just the roast at £6.50 or two courses at £9.50.My niece enjoyed her gammon and chips - £8.25 followed by chocolate fudge cake -£2.95.The visit was made all the more pleasurable due to it being a victorian pub and you can tell that the place must be run with a great deal of care and passion.

“Exemplary”

This is a little bit of a trek for me but well worth it. The food is delicious, the beer is well kept and the main reason I visit. The staff are always extremely friendly.

“A Gem of a Pub”
Reviewed August 4, 2013

The clue as to the Black Eagles surroundings is in the address - Factory Road but this pub shines like a precious gem. We visited with my brother on the basis of a recommendation. Parking is limited at the front of the pub but there is plenty of street parking close by. The pub is very traditional, no piped music, no game machines, a traditional hardwood and tiled bar which spans three cosy rooms to enjoy your drink and a warm Brummie welcome. Outside there is a garden space that is something of an oasis - very pleasant. The real ale is simply superb - a good selection and very well kept. It's worth a visit simple to enjoy a pint of good English ale. The restaurant is compact so a reservation if you want to eat there is a must. That said you can eat in the bar - but you'd need to be early to get a table there as well. We saw a couple with there kids there and they were made to feel more than welcome from what we saw. The menu is on the website. It's good value pub fare - not gastropub but honest. Our recommendations would be that any of the mushroom starters are very good, as is the Haddock and for main course the Trout is good (but ask for the head off if you don't want it to stare at you), and the Fillet was good too. All in all well worth a visit.
