“pleasantly surprised”
Reviewed December 29, 2012

Every year around XMAS myself and work colleagues go to the O2 accademy to watch a gig, followed by beers and curry. It has become a joke about the quality of late night curry we have at our Xmas night out but Spices of india has broken the mould. What can I say we were all really surprised with just how good the food was even at 1.00am. Service was good waiter was friendly even with a bunch of merry guys. Decor is a little tired but its the taste that counts and this is a firm winner. Cheap to

“Very good food”
Reviewed November 10, 2012 via mobile

We had an excellent meal here. Tasty and good portions for the starter. Main of chicken pasanda and tandoori mixed grill. Food was tender and freshly cookies. Washed down with Cobra beer. Window seats the best to watch Birmingham traffic. Would recommend to the many who stay in the myriad of local hotels

“Good find ignore the bad reviews.”
Reviewed October 7, 2012 via mobile

Found the restaurant through searching trip advisor as my daughter and I were new to Birmingham. The restaurant had had mixed reviews but we decided to make our own minds up . At first we were unsure as on aproaching the entrance as it did not look inviting and on entering restaurant we had to wait several minutes for a waiter to seat us . We ordered our food and thoroughly enjoyed what we had . The food was piping hot and the sauces accompanying our chicken were the best we have had in an indian restaurant in a long time, the cost was very reasonable and the staff very friendly. Therefore make your own minds up and give it a try. If we return to Birmingham we will visit again .

“Gem of a find”
Reviewed September 17, 2012

After a disappointing day watching the Swans being beaten by Aston Villa we were in desperate need of cheering up. Top marks to the staff who made us very welcome and went out of their way to recommend and suggest various dishes for us to try. The food was fantastic best curry i have ever had, cant wait to go back to Birmingham just to visit Spices of India again.

“don't be expecting high standards”
Reviewed August 21, 2012

Me and a group of friends went there.spent a good amount of money.

The service needs to be improved so don't be expecting high standards of customer service. However the waiter is funny and tries to do his best but he definitely needs to improve his customer service skills.

The food is very average. In fact I had higher hopes....however the chef was very nice for changing my order. But for the standard price I guess it was ok.... One thing I was very angry about was the poppadons which the waiter offered to us and did not tell us it will cost 50p for one and an extra 50p for sauce. It may not seem a lot but we should have been warned that it would cost us as there was a big group of us. The portion is not too small but not too big, but enough to be full with left overs. The bar had a lack of alcohol n waiter had basic knowledge of his supply of alcohol.

The venue looks nice, however the toilets were smelly. I wanted to vomit. But they need to change the music to give it a different atmosphere! Overall it's ok. However won't be returning soon. Hope you guys have a better experience
