LOCATION - Firstly, if you're off to the NEC then this hotel is in a fantastic location..we walked there in less than 15mins so no hassle with trying to park etc.
ARRIVAL - The hotel reception/bar and restaurant area is all open plan and contempary in design and have the reception staff to match..very smart in appearance, polite and welcoming.
ROOM- Our room (112) was located on the first floor, and was spotlessly clean with all the usual hotel comforts (tv..tea & coffee etc). As a family of 4, the sofa bed was ready made up for us on arrival however this did limit the amount of space in the room but as a short-term stay this was not a problem for us.
FOOD- Breakfast is served between 6.30 & 9.30am and a good variety of breakfast items is promised, unfortunately heading down to breakfast at 9am it appeared we had been left to pick through the scraps. Juice, tea/coffee and toast was plentiful BUT the yoghurt fridge was almost empty, no croissants as they'd run out, fresh fruit? well, there was one half of a grapefruit segment floating around in its own juice (rather than argue over it, we left it lol),two of the cereal containers were empty, and as for the hot buffet options?..well they dont seem to be able to get bacon, egg, sausage and beans out at the same time so by the time we waited for them to top up with fresh, the rest of the items were cold ;-( The one thing I will say about breakfast is that there only appeared to be just one lady "theresa" who was working her hardest trying to attend the breakfast buffet, no other staff member appeared to help her??? After taking my complaint to reception staff , they were apologetic & offered us a 50% discount off our evening meal which in contrast was a much better experience than breakfast. Our meals were tasty, generous portions and even if we hadnt had the discount it would have been good value for money.
PARKING & INTERNET - Whilst I was aware of this charge prior to arrival, I personally feel that as a guest at the hotel we should not have to pay additionally to park in the hotel's car park. I also feel that the internet charge of £12 a night is a bit of a rip off too so we didnt bother with that even though the kids tried to nag me for it, .you can however get a half hour internet voucher code so you can get access in the reception area.
Overall, apart from the problem with the breakfast, we had a very good 2 night stay and would happily stay here again if we're attending the NEC/Airport.
