Standard typical travelodge room, walls clean and newly painted, tv not much bigger than a laptop, surely they can do better than that. Bed comfortable, pillows slightly improved but not brilliant. Check in and out efficient with smiling happy staff. Would use again but the much hyped upgrade is underwhelming. Still a significant way behind Premier Inn and Holiday Inn Express

We booked a saver family room for 2 nights as a stop over whilst attending an exhibition at the NEC. Our room was on the 3rd floor facing the main road. As a light sleeper I fully expected to be disturbed by some external noise but was pleasantly suprised to find this wasn't the case. However, the children in the room above did a fair bit of stomping around which wasn't too good. The room was very clean, very tidy and the bathroom was lovely (how do they get that pre-moulded stuff in there?!). After a long journey I was pleased to find that the staff had made up both of the children's beds, this is the ONLY hotel that I have been to of it's kind and not had to start making up kids beds so well done!!! There was a plentiful supply of pillows and towels too for a change which was great. The staff were very friendly in the restaurant though the hotel entrance could be more welcoming, it felt quite clinical. As with other reviewers we were not impressed with the parking (£7.50 for 24hrs), however, the car park did offer plenty of spaces unlike other Travel lodges we have been to. Altogether a recommended Travel Lodge, close to the NEC and very comfortable. On a final note though the cooked breakfast didn't offer mushrooms - can you believe it!

What a difference in a year !!! From grotty hotels to first class, clean, comfortable & functional at a great price, quiet considering the proximity to the runway !!! Would use for a family getaway or a romantic weekend if other travelodge's have been refurbished to this standard !!!

Stayed at this hotel for 1 night whilst away with my boyfriend to watch a concert in the LG Agena/NEC. it was literally 5 minutes away in a taxi which cost us £6 (this was a set price so the hotel must have some arrangement with local taxi company). staff were very friendly and welcoming. Hotel room was modern and very clean, however a little bit small considering we were actually in a family room which was meant to sleep 3. there was a small bar in the hotel and drinks there weren't too expensive. they also served food all day. we didn't eat but saw people around us eating and they looked like decent platefuls. we paid £44 for the room booked through late rooms. would definitely recommend the hotel and would look to stay here if I visit this area again.

Room Tip: I found that the family rooms were the same price as booking a double room. if this is the case, boo...

I stayed here for a work conference at the NEC. The hotel was very clean, and the staff there were probably the happiest and most friendly that I have encountered at a travellodge !

I minor issue that I had was with the car park - which is not really the responsibility of the Travellodge but other people may want to bare in mind. When you come in you take a ticket, which lasts you 24 hours, if you want to come and go in the 24 hours then you need to use a different ticket machine to pay at and get a multiple entry ticket, if like me you needed to come and go a bit in the 48 hours that you were there then this will be what you need, however the signage for this is not very obvious.

If I have any reason to return to Birmingham, I will definitely stay here.

Have stayed here several times, nice clean hotel with comfy beds and have never had a problem with noise. If book in plenty of time it is so much cheaper than the hotels on the NEC site and it has a small bar and restaurant on site.

I stayed here as I was visiting the NEC, which is only 5 mins away. Paid £48 inc breakfast. Hotel was clean, if a little souless, but that was not a surprise, The staff were excellent - genuinely friendly, helpful, and gave the impression that my stay mattered to them. Stayed in a family room on 6th floor facing the airport, which the kids loved. Food was good. Only down sides were a lack of towels in the room (quickly fixed by staff), no plug sockets by the bed, and no way of contacting reception from the room. Also think car park should have been free (£7.50). Basic, but clean & good value & good staff.
