had another 1 night stay B&B in october. Since Hilton taken over from mint chain it remains very clean and contempary, very near broad street and all its goings on! (not noisey at all )very pleasant front of house staff. i didnt find the service at breakfast as "on the ball" as on previous stays, quality of food good, egg chef seemed uninterested. clearing of tables a little slow. Room excellent all you need sadly the free internet access removed from computers now. one dissappointing aspect now is that the windows do not open for a touch of fresh air. However would go again and i booked well early and got an excellent deal.

Room Tip: ASk for higher level floor better view. beaware rooms quite warm and windows do not open now.

I stayed at the Garden Inn for an event at the ICC. The hotel is perfectly situated being just a 5 minute stroll from the back entrance. The main bonus was that there was no neccessity to walk down Broad Street late at night. Go straight out from the main doors down to Brindleyplace and over the canal foot bridge. Brindleyplace has a huge selection of cafes, bars and restaurants all set in a pleasent square overlooking the canal.
We arrived at 10.15 a.m. and were delighted that our room was already available to us. The room was clean and bright. There was a fairly small bathroom but again it was spotlessly clean with complimentary toileteries and a very efficient shower. The bed was very confortable and there was the bonus of iron and ironing board in a cupboard next to the bathroom.
I will definitely stay here again when visiting the ICC. Followed a previous reviewers tip and parked in the Brindleyplace car park, adjacent to the hotel. This cost £12 for 24 hours with the hotel discount.

Great value hotel (booked through Expedia) fairly central Birmingham (just off Broad Street Brindley Place Canal area). Comfortable light good size room with complimentary Apple iMac TV computer and WiFi. Also large fluffy towels, hairdryer, iron & ironing board, fridge, coffee, tea & milk (with kettle & mugs) and roomsafe. Great for a weekend break (complimentary WiFi a real bonus - fun getting to understand how the Apple iMac TV and computer worked - almost intuitive!).

Stayed here for two nights. Room was very clean and tidy. Light wood furniture made it a very airy room. Lovely toiletries provided by Neutrogena which were replenished on the 2nd day. Had a snack in the bar area when we arrived, which was delicious. Steak sandwich cooked blue, lovely crispy chips, mediterranean veggie wrap and butter-nut squash risotto were very good. Service for breakfast was very good - breakfast a bit average (buffet style) I want a nice fried egg - not watery scrambled. But there was a veggie option and soya milk (not always available) The staff who served us were excellent, very smiley and friendly. Lovely comfortable bed, gave me two brilliant nights sleep.

Room Tip: We stayed in 414 which looks out onto a quietish road which is better than the other side, where the...

After reading some of the reviews on trip advisor i have to say we were quite dubious about our stay at the hilton garden inn, but luckily were pleasantly surprised. The hotel is in a fantastic location, right near the Waterfront which has a great atmosphere, lots of friendly bars and great places to eat, and only a relatively short walk into the town centre. The hotel itself was nicely decotated and extremelly clean. We wer greeted in an efficient and professional manner (granted not overly friendly) but definately curtious. Our room was a good size, not huge but happliy fitted double bed, wardrobe, desk and comfy chair. Bathroom again small but nice and bright and clean. We stayed on floor 5 over looking the main square so did expect it to be noisey, however found it to be one of the quietest hotel rooms yet, despite it being a fri / sat night and having the window open. This is not a luxury hotel but very good standard for the price paid adn would definately not hesitate in staying again

The hotel is situated in a great location for the NIA, Symphony Hall and Birmingham Rep, as well as a good choice of restaurants and bars. The city centre and shopping areas are a 10 to 15 minute walk away.
The hotel looks great from the outside, clean and modern, but rooms are surprisingly small for a Hilton and bathrooms are tiny.
However, what was most disappointing on our stay was the "legendary Hilton breakfast". We arrived for breakfast at about 9am and there was a queue of people waiting, The restaurant did not appear to be particularly busy, but the tables were strewn with used cutlery and crockery which hadn't been cleared. Along with a number of other guests, we were asked to wait in the bar, which was also full of dirty plates and cups. Eventually when there were about 20 people waiting, we were all told to go through to the restaurant where they had managed to clear a few tables. We waited around 10 minutes without being served - no offer of tea/coffee, toast or choice of eggs - in fact the staff didn't speak to us at all. When I eventually saw another guest foraging amongst dirty cups and saucers to find the dregs of a pot of coffee and help himself, we left. On leaving, we advised the waitress that we wouldn't be staying for breakfast and she seemed surprised. I'm not sure if it's worse to provide such bad service or be completely unaware that you are! I did go to reception to tell them that we weren't having breakfast and the reason why, but they appeared uninterested.
As a Hilton Honors Diamond member, our breakfast would have been free - not even that was enough to make us stay. There's plenty of nearby places to have breakfast for far less than the Hilton would charge and a Wetherspoons in the nearby Paradise Forum that does a full English for about £3.
