“Such a shame....”

..... that along with its re-development, it also lost all its character and charm. The MAC at one point for me and many of my firends, was an absolute must for any visit to Cannon Hill Park, even if just stopping off for a beer or a coffee. The theatre and cinema listings were a mix of popular crowd pleasers, along with more traditional and modern fare. Now however its sterile and uninteresting renovation is matched perfectly by its almost exclusively pretentious program,
Anyone going to the mac for the first time since its renovation, the cost of which is quite staggering (who knew covering everything in white paint cost so much) and is hoping to revisit what was once a beloved little hidden gem in the Birmingham arts scene, i suspect will also be highly disappointed.

We really sad to read this review. With our annual footfall figure increased by 69% since reopening, many would disagree with your comments. We feel, with an increase of 40% in space, the comparatively small £15.2m spent on the redevelopment is yielding huge benefits to audiences, learners and most importantly artists at all stages of their careers. We’d urge you to visit our website and visit again in the hope you’ll see the benefits of all our hard work.
