Owner description: Welcome to St Martin in the Bull Ring. This is one of the most ancient and contemporary buildings in Birmingham. Most of this Grade II listed church is from the nineteenth century. It was built in 1873 and is an example of gothic Victorian architecture, designed by Alfred Chatwin, from Birmingham, who also worked on the houses of parliament. But St Martin's is much older than that. There has been a church on this site since 1290 and may well have been a simple place of worship here in Saxon times. St Martin's is also a place of worship for a thriving community who refurbished the building in 2000 making it more light and open. In 2009 we created a tea lounge, healing center, and learning and advice service so our hospitality in the heart of the city could be extended. We believe that what Jesus called 'Life in all its fullness' can be discovered right here in the crosscurrents of the marketplace. You are very welcome to come in and walk around.

“Tranquility”
Reviewed January 24, 2013

After a few hours in and around the markets and bull ring then a moments peace is just what the old legs need. I can not think of any one irrespective of religion who would not find the atmosphere so divine and a minute or ten sat looking at the fine stained glass windows well the stress of everyday life just flows away for a magical few moments.

“St Martin Bull Ring”
Reviewed January 19, 2013

St Martin could be much more interesting with links and relevant information about places in Birmingham; including churches and places of worship. Its central location is ideal for people seeking information; not very disabled friendly.

“Nice Old Church.”
Reviewed January 17, 2013

good size church built in the gothic style. doors are open on a regular basis but I didn't see a service, candles or prayers. that's probably more a reflection of Birmingham's inhabitants than the church. The church has a little tea shop with fairly good cakes and so on but they choose to keep the earl grey with the herbal teas and hide them away in a corner.

“Lovely”

Lovely old church. The building is beautiful. It's in stark contrast to the bullring building and selfridges with its aluminium disc covering, yet, they both compliment each other.
