A fan of Tolkien? Then this is definitely worth a visit. The entry is £3 for adults and £2 for concession, kids go free, so really this place is a bargain! Growing up in Birmingham and also being a Tolkien fan I'm ashamed to say I'd never been before. There isn't a huge lot in the way of touring at the mill, but facts are learnt and the grounds are simply beautiful to look at. To get more of a day out of it, take a picnic there's a park nearby, making it worth the trip - especially in the sun.

Not really much there tbh
I grew up local to the mill and over the years it's just gone down hill :)
It's grinding itself into the ground!
If you didn't get that then your jst stupid :P
Has an awesome field for kids to have a kick about a small stream that runs through the mill as locals know it the stepping stones or the dingles
Overall don't waste your day take the kids to a wacky fun house instead they'll have a better time!

A lovely afternoon activity for all the family especially those who follow the Lord of the Rings. the volunteers there were so nice and answered all our questions about the running of the mill while they were operating it. The video display about Tolkien was interesting and we spent about half an hour playing the handmade hoopla and X's and O's games on the cobbles.
There is a nice park at the back where you can have a wee picnic or for a play about.
A beautiful restoration for a minimal fee.

I visited the 200 year old Sarehole Mill on Middle-earth weekend 2013. The once disused watermill has been lovingly restored to working order. The mill pond gardens have been tidied up with a tongue in cheek Tolkien theme. Tolkien said that the mill, one of his childhood haunts, was the inspiration for Sandeman's Mill in Hobbiton, which features in the final (unfilmed) chapter of the book, "The Scouring of the Shire". I have to say that the best time to visit is when Middle-earth weekend is on, which can be found on The Tolkien Society website, UK.

The restored mill is an interesting visit, well documented in posters. Interesting relation to Tolkien who spent his childhood in the vicinity. It was not working the day we were there, which is a shame. Best to check if you want to see it in action. Nice setting
