The National Motorcycle Museum is at the hub of the country’s motorway system and rail network, with Birmingham International railway station just five-minutes taxi ride away. Access from everywhere within the UK is direct and overseas visitors praise the excellent international services provided at Birmingham Airport, which is less than two miles in distance away. The National Exhibition Centre is also near the Museum complex and we offer vast car parking facilities. Many of our clients are ‘blue-chip’ companies from home and overseas. They come back to us time after time – we know you will too, and look forward to seeing you to discuss your requirements in the near future.

“Nostalgia is alive and well”
Reviewed May 16, 2013

Being an old retired biker from the sixties it was certainly a must do on our visit to Birmingham.
There are over 600 bikes on show, all of them British, and ranging from the earliest from 1898 to the present day.
The highlight for me was seeing the bikes from my youth, especially as ther was an example of my old 1962 AJS 650cc.
This is a real must for any bike enthusiasts or indeed anyone with an appreciation for the design and engineering involved.

“National Motorcycle Museum not listening”
Reviewed May 13, 2013

I have visited the museum on 3 occasions and once for a conference. The bikes are excellent but the other negative reviews I've read could have been written by me - I've copied one below -
I was disappointed by this visit. It is simply a large collection of motorcycles in a few large halls. Each bike has a description beside it and they range from early 1900s upwards. They are arranged by manufacturer, broadly. There is no theme/subject streaming, no commentary, nothing tracing the development of the motorbike, nothing charting the downfall of British motorcycle manufacture. There is nothing showing how certain engine types became more popular over others and why. There is also nothing about the people behind the bikes, nothing about social history and mods and rockers or Hell's Angels, about British motorcycles in film. It is just rooms full of bikes with little attempt to teach/convey/engage the audience. So much more is possible. It is also masquerading as a down at heel 1980s conference centre with bad carpets, appalling signage and staff who ignore you whilst chatting to their friends when you are standing at the admissions desk holding money and clearly wishing to enter.
Someone from the Museum needs to read this and answer the observations and do something about getting it improved - I'm sure the 'founder' would take action?

Dear Mike W

Thank you for your comments regarding your trip to the National Motorcycle Museum, whilst we appreciate your comments and agree with the lack of interactivity in the museum, which is noted and plans are in place to enhance this experience. We would like to point out that we are a privately owned and funded business, where every penny spent has to be earned, unlike other establishments who are funded out of public funds. The founders vision was indeed an exhibit based museum, where the history of British Motorcycle manufacturing could be seen and we continue to honour his vision. Whilst your opinion is respected and noted we would like to point out other reviews that do not agree with your comments.

I really cannot speak too highly of the national motorcycle museum. The staff were very friendly well informed and could not do enough for you. Everything was immaculately clean and tidy and all the bikes had information on them. There really wasn't enough hours in the day to take it all in. There's a restaurant there too, food was reasonably priced and top quality.
If you want a truly good value nostalgic day out and you're a fan of British bikes, then this is for you. Brilliant!

“Most Interesting”
Reviewed May 10, 2013

Had a few hours to kill before our flight so called in. An amazing collection of the best of the British motorcycle industry. To have recovered from a disastrous fire a few years ago to this standard is a real achievement. If you have an interest, not just in motorcycles, but in the development of British engineering this place is a must. Don't rush it though. Take half a day at least. Even my wife liked it.

“Overwhelming, baffling, missed opportunity. Fabulous bikes!”
Reviewed May 1, 2013

Visited in late February having yearned from Australia for many years. First impressions very good. Terrific building, easy to get to, easy to park and not dear.

After 5 minutes inside the big negative was obvious. Neither my mate nor I could work out how the bikes were grouped. Was it by make, style, cyinder layout or just whereever there was a space?

Next negative was that there was no attempt to tell the story of the once dominant industry. How interesting (and easy) would it have been to get some audio visual much as Brooklands or Steam! at Swindon have? The story of the decline ran through my teens and resonates with ageing baby boomers but it is not told.

On the other hand, if you are nuts about an obscure bike, this is the place to see it. Condition is excellent of course but half the number of bikes and more stories.
