Excellent, interesting guided tour which made me proud to be a Brummie! Don't fail to suggest it to visitors.Best to take the train as traffic wardens are numerous. Visit numerous good pubs-Rose Villa,Red Lion, Brown Lion and Lord Clifden. Hylton cafe opposite museum is brilliant value for money.

Have to admit something first - back when this place was set up I was involved in recording it before it was restored! The Smith & Pepper works closed in 1981 and was forgotten for over 10 years. When it was rediscovered it was a time capsule, and eerie place where you felt you have crept in while the workforce were at lunch! We had to find a way to record where everything was before it was taken out, conserved, the building restored and then put everything back in exactly the same place! We did it too. You will be amazed at the skill the workers here displayed and the conditions they worked under. You will never look at another piece of jewellery the same way again!

I visited this week and enjoyed the museum very much. The tour guide (Clive) was very knowledgeable and explained the history of the family and the workplace in an interesting and entertaining manner. I would definitely recommend this attraction to anyone going to Birmingham but the tour really brings it all to life.
