Although we did not attend an event at the Town Hall, my son had told me to take a look at the refurbishments. It has come on leaps and bound from the place that I remember!

Thank allentonya

Venue - 5 stars -

We never stop marvelling at this beautifully renovated/restored Grade 1 listed 'Music Hall' - So impressive inside and out - The smaller capacity adds a certain intimacy -
Fine sightlines - Good acoutisics - Friendly staff.

Acts (on this occasion) - 2 stars [and that is generous] ...

...basically for turning up and for some of the support act's quieter parts of their performance -
Awful sound set up/balance (sack the sound crew!!) - Bad enough for the support act (quite often expect this!?) - But, almost not possible we thought, even worse for the main act!
Luckily for both acts we have all their albums so know just how good they can sound!

Attended a concert for Christmas by Ex-Cathedra, which was wonderful in itself, but was re-acquainted with the modernized Town Hall. For years the Town hall has been the centre of cultural life in Birmingham and it offers a very suitable, smaller, alternative to its much larger partner at the ICC.
Although modernized, it retains many of its historic characteristics and even has a permanent exhibitions of photos conveying cultural life in Birmingham since the place was built.
One fly in the ointment however. It was a Sunday afternoon and the concert was fully booked. Why then no cloakroom facility for coats and why was the alternative refreshment facility not open?

We were very impressed with the Town Hall. We were at the back and could see the stage really well. Staff were helpful and polite. Great venue would look for future shows

Birmingham Town Hall host some really good events and well worth travelling into Brum for!
The events are varied (from organ recital - only £6 at lunchtime - to the Gruffalo),and are always supported by friendly and helpful staff. Parking is not provided but there are ample sites in the area. Look out for upcoming events - not to be regretted.
