“Christmas Weekend”
Reviewed December 21, 2012

Visited this hotel in December. Lovely hotel, second stay here. Shuttle from hotel to Birmingham International, great location for German Christmas market. On return you can call for the shuttle to pick you up. Hotel is great, lovely atmosphere. Rooms excellent, buffet breakfast in the morning, top marks. Would definately come back.

Smooth check-in but two of the three lifts were out order. (One was repaired later.) Room pleasant enough though bed a little hard for my liking. One of the bedside lamps was not working but I'm sure if I'd complained they would have fixed it. We had afternoon tea in a comfy lounge and the food was average. Very nice staff. Were there for an Andre Rieu concert so it more than served the purpose. Would go back.

Dear Thomas

Thank you for your review following your recent stay witn us. I must apologise for the fact that we were experiencing an issue with our lifts at the time of your visit. Our Maintenance team would certainly have replaced your bedside lamp bulb and I apologise this was not picked up at the time of servicing the room.

We look forward to welcoming you back again soon.

Kind regards

I stayed here with my daughter to go to the Andre Rieu concert at the LG Arena. For ease of access to the NEC it's fantastic. We had the Queen Bedroom deluxe but there were a few let downs in the room. The window didn't close tight a big gap above the window which let in the cold. Some of the light fittings were broken, there was a small hole in the quilt cover and no free Wi-Fi. I expected more from the Hilton chain. The staff were friendly and helpful when we arrived but checkout she wasn't that friendly, didn't even ask if I had enjoyed my stay. Ideal for going to a concert but don't expect too much.

After being dumped by Crowne Plaza with no apaology and no redcompense we were transferred to the Hilton and they were great. We booked the Crown Plaza last July as we were taking friends for a birthday celebration at the LG Arena to see Andre Rieu but were told 3 days before the event that there were no rooms. A bad experince but full marks to Hilton who honoured the deal and gave us a great stay.
Rooms were not huge but acceptable, bathrooms smallish with only shower in the bath and a floppy curtain Why don't UK hotels provide proper showers? We ate in Millers which was reasonable food and not too expesive. Very good buffet brekfast and super friendly staff all round. An easy walk to the LG arena and recommended to anyone who is visiting there.
Don't trust the Crowne Plaza!!!

My husband booked this overnight stay prior to an Andre Rieu concert at the LG arena. Check-in was smooth and the executive room a good size. The bathroom was a good size with a shower cubicle in the corner. Temperature control was easy to use. We visited the Executive Suite for canapes and drinks and this was also very pleasant.

We decided to have dinner in the hotel and were provided with a limited menu as it was prior to 6.00 p.m. However, the choice was ample and the service good. The food was also of a high standard. The bill was a little expensive but as the whole stay was a treat we didn't mind too much.

We had a full English breakfast and did not have to queue. The staff were very attentive and the food of a high standard. Check out was swift and efficient. Car parking charges were very reasonable. We did not take advantage of the gym or swimming pool so cannot comment.

All in all a very pleasant overnight stay. If we have to visit the LG for another concert we will definitely use this hotel again.

I have experienced several weekend stays at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole during the last 10 years and have always been pleased with all manner of services and facilities the hotel has to offer. The reason for this stay was to attend the Midnight Convention, celebrating the television show Doctor Who. With approximately 1000 attendees there to meet stars including David Tennant, Billie Piper and Eve Myles, there could have easily been problems but, except for a lift breaking down, there were non. The Resturant and bar staff coped professionally with the high demand, housekeeping was always to it's usual high standard and the reception and concierge staff were attentive and proficient. I have no trouble in recommending the Hilton Birmingham Metropole to anyone. Whether it be for business, leisure or a romantic getaway, Everything you need is here.

Room Tip: The higher floors are quieter.

Stayed here to go to a concert at the NEC...well thats what we thought, turns out it was at the NIA and the staff at the hotel were wonderful, getting us a taxi etc..The room was beautiful and the staff were polite and quite wonderful if I am honest. Breakfast was lovely, so much to chose from! and at all times we felt welcome. Would recommend to anyone and will definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: the view from the high rooms is awesome...try to get as high up as possible.
