“Great find!”
Reviewed October 27, 2012

Googled this B&B, read previous reviews and was NOT disappointed. I was greeted with a smile after a long journey and shown to an upgraded room which was very warm, very clean hospitable and very comfortable.
In addition to being a B&B, Westbourne Lodge offers travellers the extra facility of basic self catering in a well equipped kitchen - VERY handy when travelling on your own and you don't know the restauranats in the area. In addition to the tea / coffee facilities in the room, there was also free tea / coffee / soft drinks available in the dining room until 10.00pm at night. The breakfast was substantial if you could have eaten alll that was on offer. Norma was very hospitable and would do anything to ensure your stay was comfortable. I stayed two nights and I shall certainly return here if I need a B&B in Birmingham. Another bonus was its close proximity to the centre - could have gone by bus which Norma informed me ran every 8 minutes. She was also very good on suggesting routes to avoid the morning traffic when driving. FREE WIFI was a great bonus. Thank you!

We have just returned home after a lovely nights stay at Westbourne Lodge. From the moment we set foot in the door to the moment that we left we were made to feel like royalty. Our room (no 10) was large, clean and homely. The bathroom was large and spacious and spotlessly clean. Tea and coffee facilities were available and if you ran out you just go to the dining room to restock. Breakfast was fab. The owner Norma was a lovely gracious lady who went the extra mile to make us feel welcome in her home. We will definitley return.

Stayed here for 3 nights recently. We had a lovely, spacious, quiet family room at the back, overlooking the garden. The breakfast was very good and the service and standards of cleanliness both excellent. It's in a very convenient position for visiting Birmingham.

I was originally staying at the Portland Hotel further down the road, and for reasons I wont go into in this post I left and came here instead.

The service here is outstanding, the staff are so friendly and helpful. The whole hotel is clearly well taken care of and the bed is obviously expensive and good quality. The shower is kept clean and there are clean fresh towels waiting for you on arrival.

There are also two lovely little back gardens for the guests to sit in and have their beer sat in the sun,

Well, as you may have gathered...I'd recommend this hotel :)

Excellent service, clean and tastefully decorated rooms, superb breakfast and a central location! Westbourne Lodge has it all. I work in Birmingham Monday to Friday and have stayed in the hotel for two one week stays, now I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else. Nothing is too much trouble and as a guest you are made to feel as comfortable as possible. I can thoroughly recommend Westbourne Lodge and as someone who seems to spend their working life away from home, it certainly beats the drab and clinical blandness of more expensive Corporate hotel chains every time.

Arrived early for the booking. Very friendly welcome and this was continued by all the staff we encountered and the owner. Hotel is quiet and just off the main Hagley Road, 5 mins by cab into town and we walked in which was about 30 - 40 mins. Good off street parking in a quiet residential road with cameras overlooking the parking area which added to feel of good security. It is an old house which is exceptionally clean although some gentle decor touches would enhance the hotel. Bed was very comfortable and thermostatically adjustable radiators allowed individual control. Room and bathroom of a good size.
Enjoyed stay and would return.

Watching the birds in the garden, while eating a great breakfast, cooked to order, a large pot of tea and spring flowers on the table...what could be nicer! Our first stay at this hotel was in 1996! We return because it has consistently high standards of comfort and cleanliness. The rooms are quiet, and spacious. There are thick towels(and flannels), bottles of hand wash, shampoo, conditioner, tissues and cotton wool pads. Mrs Hanson will go the extra mile to make you have everything you want. To be honest, she's already thought of most things!

Room Tip: Both rooms on the back and front of the hotel are quiet.
