We stay on a regular basis two or three times through the year and find that, although usually busy because of our connections with athletics, the hotel reception and catering staff (especially the chef) look after us well. Look out for wine special offers.

Room Tip: Upgrades are worth it!

Stayed on the run up to Christmas.

Room was pleasant and clean however bathroom door would not shut properly and looked pretty battered!

Stayed as part of a coach group.

Arrived at 19.30 and was told that no food available that night as they were catering for a Christmas party.

There was at least one other coach group there, if not two or three and it seems that all groups were told to go for breakfast at 07:30. Tables were not set up, only one person going around with hot water for tea or coffee and the pot they were carrying only managed six people before it needed to be refilled. A queue for food had formed before any of it was out from the kitchens. Not enough seating for everybody and guests had to be ushered into another room. staff seemed to be flustered.

Stayed for 2 nights. Hotel is tired but clean so no major issues. We were surprised that having booked a room for two that we got a family room with a double bed and the settee made up as two singles so we had nowhere to sit.
The main problem for us was the heating which was blasting out hot air through the A/C unit even when turned off plus a radiator that could not be turned off so the room was uncomforably hot. My daughter was staying in another room and had the same problem and reported it to the staff. she was told that they could not do that and was given a bottle of water to cool down.
Other gripes were that it was impossible to get reception to answer the phone. We met another resident in the bar who clad in what appeared to be her nightware was ordering room service because she had given up trying to contact staff by phone.
We had reason to phone the hotel on return and yet again they did not answer the phone.
On the positive side the accomodation was cheap the staff were very friendly on the whole and
the leisure facilities are very good with a proper decent sized swimming pool with a small area dedicated to swimming which is very unusual for a hotel these day.
THe breakfast was excellent with plenty of variety and helpful staff.
The location is excellent very close to the M6 and good road links into central Birmingham.

Room Tip: top floor to the rear probably quieter with less road noise

After staying here from 28th-30th December as a post Xmas family break, the only good thing I could say about this hotel is the price!!! (Booked early online) my family and i had 3 rooms on the first floor and all of them were extremely hot! Despite turning the air conditioning down to minimum to cool the room down, it still continued to blow out hot air, when I complained to reception the lady gave us a bottle of water each and advised we run a cold bath to draw the heat out and to open the windows!!!!when we got home we realised we had left some items in the room, we spent an hour calling the hotel last night only to constantly get no reply, finally we called the reservations line and they managed to transfer us to the hotel reception, we still await a call back to see if our items have been found!!
For a hotel that was far from full the service received was far from acceptable

We spent 4 nights over Christmas at the holiday Inn. What can I say very nice but a little staid and ordinary. The room was very nice very clean and tidy. The staff very polite and helpfully, the food very nice. But really that says it all. The break was very good value but I feel holiday inn need to up there game. A bit more lively is the order of the day
Avoid the swimming pool its very dirty especially around the edges!

Room Tip: Rooms very hot make sure you get a room with a fully opening Window!

Meal - starter = nice, main course = just about ok, sweet = ok, Beer = flat and watered down £4.00 a pint. Worst thing about the night was the power mad bouncer who strode around the function room throwing people out at will for stupid things. I was asked to leave on one occasion for dancing in an un-authorised area (next to my table). Complained about him to the hotel manager who said he was a jobsworth but did nothing about him. Will never use this venue again for our works christmas party.
