“An Utterly dreadful hotel”
Reviewed July 15, 2013 via mobile

This is possibly one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. From the excruciatingly impossible entrance to the car park which no doubt has caused countless drivers to scratch their cars to the stepping across a passed out intoxicated individual in front of the entrance this truly is an awful arrival to any hotel. I spent over 25 minutes waiting to check in after a four hour drive to get there. I then get to the hideously hot room to find no dial tone on the phone and no room service. I have stayed in hostels for £10 per night that had better service and facilities. There is constant noise throughout the night. the location is also hideous...DO NOT STAY HERE!!!

Not bad here, staff are good, check in/out is quick, the rooms are a bit dated/stale....but everything seems to work well, the air con is good, right in the centre of the Chinese quarter so in a good location for restaurants, you get what you pay for, would stop again, although the wifi is not free, cant really complain.

Room Tip: A room on the front of the building would give best views. Side views are poor.

The boiling room with hostel grade furniture was a let down from the chain that brought us Sofitel. The room was small but the poor quality of the furnishings, small tv, low powered a/c and uncomfortable bed gave the hotel a very cheap feel that rivals of a similar price have seemed to avoid.

The breakfast was an upside and the staff were friendly.

Room Tip: Avoid this hotel if an alternative is available.

Cheap and functional rooms with no fridge, sparse toiletries, minimum towels. It was however, clean enough in anywhere that matters, and central. There is a full choice at self-serve breakfast with excellent, smiling, breakfast staff.
Check in very busy and staff at the reception desk seem overworked. You will almost certainly have a wait here. They have a 15 minute service promise on service requests - but I expect you will wait that long to make your request in the first place! The service at reception is certainly a bit of a problem as they really do need more staff.
Beds comfortable, rooms a bit airless. There is air con but it is rather feeble and like all other hotels in the UK it is impossible to open the window very wide. We had Tea/Coffee and a kettle in the room as well as free internet (if you use their computers in the lobby it is expensive). We stayed in a larger room at the back of the hotel. It had a sofa-bed which gave us loads of space - massive in fact.
If you have a car they have a basement car park which is perfectly fine and secure. It is £10 a night. It doesn't seem to get very full but as it is a bit squashy that's probably a good thing. There are lots of car parks nearby if you would prefer somewhere more capacious.
The hotel is in the Chinese quarter - so lots of eating options - and the central shopping areas (Bullring etc) are on the doorstep.
Overall would stay here again - even though noisy outside on a Saturday night!

The hotel has a cool feel about it very slick reception and very pleasing on the eyes receptionist.....but my hotel room was like a sauna during the night, mainly because the A/C was not working. The rooms a bit on the small side for a tall dude like me...... I would stay again if the A/C is working.

The location just next the the Bullring is great. A lot of chinese and other restaurants around. Theater only 50 meters away. Friendly helpful staff.
Very small rooms and bathrooms. Good for a short city break.
Stayed for seven days.
