i was very surprised to find the Staffordshire Hoard there. Incredibly interesting exhibit with hands-on I-pad stations. There was also a very interesting exhibit of paintings of Native American indians at the time of my visit.

One of the best pre Raphaelite collections in the world, beautiful paintings evocative of a different age.
Helpful staff, well displayed pictures a good morning spent enjoying myself.

“Amazing, Fascinating - and free!”

A lovely collection of fascinating paintings and artefacts, friendly staff and family atmosphere. If you're short of time, go in and walk straight along, and learn about Birmingham's amazing industrial, working-class history.

I have always liked the gallery here but it has been transformed in to a really interesting space. Interactive stuff for kids was excellent and mine really engaged with it. (shame some of the bits were broken at the time of our visit) accidentally went up to the history of birmingham exhibition (looking for Egyptian stuff) and this was brilliantly done. Again, a lot of interactive things which were fantastic for the kids (5 and 18 months) and just really interesting. I would love to go back and finish that exhibition and look at other sections we did not see. Cannot recommend enough, plus it's free.

“Visited to see the Staffordshire Hoard”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 30, 2013

Museum has part of the Staffordshire Hoard, Stoke on Trent purchased the other half. The exhibition and signage is well done, could use more funding for climate control. Other parts of the collection, English and other nationalities paintings, sculpture etc are excellent.

Lovely gift shop and nice cafeteria.
