“Cool city centre hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 24, 2013

Premier Inns are very nearly all excellent basic hotels but this one is better than usual. Excellent location in centre if city and near New St station but quiet. Wonderfully cool on scorching and humid day. Friendly staff and comfortable room.

I was staying here on business and usually find when I stay in a city centre hotel that I don't have a good experience. However, I checked in quickly, my room was lovely, the bed was really comfy and I slept exceedingly well. I couldn't hear any noise from outside and wasn't woken up by people coming in late. The breakfast was also amazing with plenty of choice and you could go up as many times as you liked. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in Birmingham.

Stayed here, in a group of six ladies on a Birthday weekend. We had three rooms all next to one another. The rooms were standard Premier Inn, comfortable, clean and had a nice view. On arrival we couldn't check in as we were a little too early, the lady on duty suggested we have a drink in the bar while we waited, so we did, and it was very nice there, then another lady, June asked if we were okay and what we were doing here ect. she was very nice and helpful throughout our stay. I don't know what noise issues people seem to have but we never heard a thing. The location is great as we caught the train, it is in easy walking distance and also for the shops. All in all good place for a central hotel in Birmingham.

3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 15, 2013

We stayed for 2 nights recently. Check in was supposed to be 2.00pm. On arrival I was informed that, due to 'problems' the room would not be ready until 3.00pm. I went into town and came back at 3.30pm and the room was still not ready. They eventually reallocated us another room at 4.00pm and, although we had requested a twin room, there was just a double bed and a small settee bed which was not ready. This was prepared for us whilst we were downstairs eating dinner.
Parking was at a local car park about a 5 minute walk away. Not a problem as such, but we had to purchase a 24 hour ticket on the first day (approximately £10.50) and on the second day (Sunday) it was not clear on the car park instructions what the daily rate was. I ended up driving to another car park on Broad Street which was only £6.00 but a 15 minute walk away. It would be much easier if Premier Inn were to negotiate a daily rate/parking pass for people staying at their hotel. This could then be put in the car windscreen.
At night, even though the windows were double glazed, there was a noise throughout the night similar to a car exhaust which went off every minute or so. I reported this to the receptionist who said she would investigate, but she never got back to me. The noise kept me awake all night. So much for the Premier Inn peaceful sleep promise.
Good things? very convenient for town, price generally good, good restaurant bar downstairs and coffee shop over the road.

Room Tip: Take ear plugs in case the noise I experienced has not been fixed.

Hello Christopher,

I am very sorry to hear you have encountered such inconveniences at check-in and throughout the night. We have made a few changes to our housekeeping team that have affected, at times, our check-in time, but this problem has been worked on and I can safely say this situation should never occur again.
Also, we have been trying to let all our guests know that we don't facilitate parking, but we will make sure that instructions for our recommended car parks are clear from now on.

However, we do hope you will come back and have a thoroughly wonderful stay.
