“Fine dining but on Broad Street”
Reviewed July 23, 2013

Decided to eat here because of local recommendations and TripAdvisor reviews. The venue is plush, their welcome is warm, its waiting staff are attentive and the food was deliciously authentic. Pushkar is both conveniently and inconveniently located next to a bus stop so its great for transport links and being watched by passengers!

“Fabulous food and decor”
Reviewed July 21, 2013

First time we had visited this restaurant. Found after searching for top 10 curry house in Birmingham, booked based on all good reviews on trip advisor. This restaurant has earned its good reviews. Decor is stylish and clean, staff very friendly and helpful. Food was delicious, my boyfriend and I both agreed the Naan bread especially was the best we had ever had. Price at mid range, but well worth it for the quality the food, decor and staff. Would recommend!!

“Classy Indian”
Reviewed July 20, 2013

Food was excellent, but it is expensive and quite upscale. Location right on Broad Street means there is lots of action in the vicinity

“Fantastic food, drinks, service and atmosphere - 10/10 all the way.”
Reviewed July 19, 2013

We happened on Pushkar late one evening - it was still buzzing at almost 10pm on a Friday...a good sign! We got a table for two no problem, without a booking. The service was quick, friendly, and super-smooth. The food is delicately presented, with great portion sizes...not so much less is more but enough is simply enough. :) Oh, and its flavours are pitch-perfect. No alcoholic drinks for us tonight, but rose lassis really hit the spot. Our only disappointment is that they're not open for lunches at weekends. We'd be back every day while staying here! :)

“90+ Minutes and still no main course!”
Reviewed July 14, 2013

This is the second visit to Pushkar and we were really looking forward to eating there again.

Our reservation was at 8.15 and we arrived at 8.00 so had a couple of Cocktails at the bar before we dined. The cocktails were excellent and good value at under £7.

We were showed to our table at 8.10 and offered poppadoms and dips while we ordered. Unusually these were served in small pieces and there were two types - standard and savoury, both nice and the dips were good.

At about 8.20 we ordered our meal, starters of scallops and battered cod fillet. 40 Minutes lapsed and the waiter could see we were getting agitated, other diners who arrived the same time as us had been served. He came to us and apologised stating scallops took a long time to prepare - that's scallops that normally take 1 minute to 2 mins to fry! At 9.05 the starters arrived. My cod in spiced batter was good but my wife's scallops were under-seasoned for her taste but they were well cooked besides that.

We were hungry by now and we had finished the starters quite quickly - then started the wait for the main course. At 9.35 we were almost at the end of our tether and I let the waiter know that if the meal wasn't with us in a couple of minutes we would be leaving. We waited more than 5 minutes and then we left the table. I touched base with our waiter stating we could not wait any longer and that I would pay for what we had had. He told me he would get the manager, she was there in a moment and I again offered to pay for what we had consumed but, and she is to be applauded for this, she said that she was really embarrassed about our experience and could not take our money. So at 9.50 we left the restaurant.

I don't like giving bad reviews but we feel the food delivery service was shocking and MUST be improved. The restaurant was very busy this particular evening 13.7.13 and I can see from other reviewers that they had excellent meals and service on the same night - so perhaps we were just very unlucky. The restaurant is a cool looking place and the staff are very polite. The food what we had was very good - pity, I doubt we will go again.
