“Must Go! Must Go! Must Go!”
Reviewed December 4, 2013

Like pie? Like being spoiled for options? Like having it fresh, literally out of the oven? Like friendly service? Finally, like a cheap meal?
Honestly look no further, every time I go to Birmingham I HAVE to go here. It just just the best.
Give it a try and you won't regret it.

“Fast pies”
Reviewed November 29, 2013

Well located for a pre or post shamble round the Bull Ring. The last time I went in was before a gig at the Institute. There's a good range of pies and it's essentially fast food. Rock up, choose pie, mash, gravy, pay and scoff. For what it is it's a bit overpriced, particularly given that the food is sitting under hot plates. The best time to visit is 5-6pm when they have the bake sale on and the pies are half price. Other than that it's not really worth it....

“Poor pie”
Reviewed November 10, 2013 via mobile

Overpriced, pretentious and poor food. Staff friendly

Ordered the chicken and asparagus pie. The chicken was dry, chewy and over cooked. I never found a spear of asparagus, as promised by the description . There was a trace of green sludge in the pie sauce but no actual taste or vision of asparagus.

The sauce in the pie and the gravy was a starchy goo that at times seemed like glue and held minimal flavour. It didn't have the ability to soften the dry pastry - which was sorely needed.

The mash was odd, it seemed to have extra starch added to it / or had been over worked, perhaps by mechanical means.

The veg was a disgrace - the carrots were watery, lacking in any flavour and were lukewarm.

Luckily I had to escape sharpish to catch a train.
An experience I won't be repeating.

“Overpriced”
Reviewed September 2, 2013

This place looks trendy and the pies sound really good.

When we visited it was just after opening and nothing was ready. We had to wait around 20mins or so for them to get the food ready for serving.

We ordered 2 x pies with mash and carrots and 2 drinks. It came to over £16!!!! a bit shocking when you actually look at the food, and it certainly didn't fill us up for that price.

The pie itself was nice, but that was it. The carrots were still pretty raw, and the mash lukewarm. If you have a favoured mash, it's basically the normal mash with the flavoured sauce you want squirted on top of it and forked in.

“Bit Expensive”
Reviewed August 29, 2013

We eat here on Sunday 25 Aug. It was ok. We bought 2 bottles of beer and 2 pies, one with mash and gravy. It cost £16! Now I live in Manchester so know the cost of living but that really is expensive! The pie was average.

Wouldn’t say avoid, just don’t expect it to be pie prices!
