“Very good value for money, clean rooms and friendly staff”
Reviewed September 7, 2013

I stayed here with my daughter and other family members on Friday 06/09/13 and was very pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of the rooms and friendliness of the staff. The food was simple pub grub or carvery, both enjoyable and well prepared. The cost of the stay was extremely good value and I would recommend this hotel for a short stay. I will certainly stay again when I'm next in Birmingham.

Room Tip: The noise insulation seems to be good whatever side of the hotel you are on.

Positives are great staff, easy to find, big clean room and the free continental breakfast was good!
Negatives were loads of stairs to get to the family rooms, not great when you have carry a baby, toddler and loads of bags and the rooms were warm (could not have stayed there when we were having the heatwave!)
Overall good value for money!

Room Tip: park around the back and you can go in & out of night entrance

We stayed here for three nights. We were attracted by the third night free offer and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel. We were impressed with the standard of cleanliness in the rooms and bathrooms. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Our room was above the kitchen and so it was a bit warm but it was bigger than our friends' room...

Very clean and comfortable. Spacious room. Good breakfast. the continental is probably enough for most people so no need to pay extra. Staff were really friendly, particularly at breakfast time. Exactly what you hope for in this price bracket.

Stayed here after reading about this on this site. Was sceptical as rate was excellent for a family of four with continental breakfast included for 2 nights costing only £90.00.

Staff were so friendly and especially the lovely ladies who prepared the rooms and the brilliant lady who served us breakfast each morning.

The room was very clean and tidy although when we visited the weather was extremely warm and very uncomfortable. However, the second day the ladies who prepared the rooms gave us clean sheets and a light sheet for during the night and also supplied us with a fan.

We ate in the restaurant which was good value for money and again the staff were all very friendly and helpful.

We left some chocolates for the ladies to share after our visit to Cadbury World as they made our stay most welcome. We will definitely come back. Well worth a visit. Brilliant bus link just outside to take you into the centre of Brimingham. Plenty of shops just opposite in case you need a bottle of water or paper. Fantastic staff, lovely stay.

Stayed here 23rd July for one night and had room 207.
It was lovely and clean and comfortable and would certainly stay here again, the continental breakfast was just enough.
Joan a lady that worked there was so friendly which made our stay even better.
Thanks to you all....

In spite of the 'cover' photograph giving the impression that Innkeeper's Lodge is falling into an abyss (I cannot imagine how the photographer managed to achieve that shot) this was a surprisingly substantial Inn.

Our standard room was as comfortable (if not more so) as those at hotels charging twice the price and more (we paid £45 for bed and continental breakfast). The shower, basin, mirrors and lighting paraphernalia was, again, substantial. Shower was spacious and powerful and the lighting was excellent for shaving/makeup. The piece de resistance however was the triptych mirror - ideal to reflect on my exquisite features from all sides; great for trimming the beard and making sure the lipstick is straight too!

The staff from bar through restaurant to chambermaids were notably helpful and humourous (down-to earth Brummies); in view of the remarkably hot weather, the chambermaid gave us sheets to use in lieu of the duvet and a fan. We took the all-you-can-eat, full English option for breakfast (at £3.99 each) and indulged in the breakfast repartee with staff. I'm not a big carvery fan but our party of four used the restaurant after a long day and it was absolutely fine.

The Inn is situated between the M5 and Birmingham centre so is ideal for both (although it's a long old trip down Hagley Road into the centre - about five miles I guess). We took the bus (no 9 if I recall); the stop is across the road outside the Inn and alighted at Brindley Place for the canals. We then took the train to Cadbury World (an awful place and complete waste of time - see review) and returned from Bournville using buses 14 and 9 again. The family rooms (see photo) at the front of the Inn have views over the tree-lined Hagley Road.

Altogether, a cracking little Inn. For the money, I cannot recall staying anywhere better (and this includes my pre-TripAdvisor days when I stayed all over Europe and the USA).
