I consider this place a great location for backpackers to stay in. I have travelled a lot in Australia as well as in Europe and the Birmingham Central Backpackers belongs to one of the best hostels I've sleeped in: Super friendly staff, very good prizes (breakfast and dinner included!) and a very very nice and colourful "living room" with internet, cinema, games and other entertainment facilities - great atmosphere. It is a very nice place to meet people from all over the world and have a good time!
I would recomment this place without any reservation to open-minded travellers who want to see the world and meet people!

clean, good selection of rooms. dont stay in the private room no 14. right out side the window they make metal bins at night.you will not sleep.you can see birmingham in a day no need to stay more than 2 nights. frendly staff very helpfull. matresses in room 6 are a good way to prepare for prison. drinking is not premitted in the hostel only in the main common room, but nobody paid any notice.easy to get to from new street station.

Intended to stay here for just a couple of days but ended up staying for an extended period of time, due to the great staff and people in the hostel. The rooms are fantastic, especially if you get to stay in the 'pods' - theyre isolated, quiet, and very comfortable.

There is a loss for words to explain the great staff at this hostel. They are very warm and entertaining! If you need help with anything, they are right there to assist you along the way. Very friendly, and provide whatever you need to ensure your stay is good!

What makes this hostel unique from others? The atmosphere! The staff try to bring everyone together every evening by providing a self catered meal to all in the common room, where you find all your extra amenities, including tvs, projectors, dvds, music, and best of all FUN!

I highly recommend this hostel to anyone who is staying in Birmingham, there is no other one like it!

Thanks for a great time!

The atmosphere was just wonderful with a nice mixture of young and old male and female proffesional and student. The atmosphere was conducive to everyone relaxing with a delicious commmunal self service meal given to all which brought everyone together and got people talking to each other. Delighful. Rooms appaling though. I was shunted to a 2nd building away from the main hostel which was a derielect closed down pub which certainly needed a lot of refurbishment.
The hosel main accomadation looked up to scratch. If you are asked to go to 2nd accomadation best to resist if you can.

The staff is extremly friendly, located near the bus station and the center. Not a great area but once you step inside it's another world.
