Every review I write on trip advisor is always based on one thing 'Value for money' We usually eat at 'Tailors' in Warwick which is a great little restaurant, however this time we were unable to get a table so decided to try somewhere else instead. Although the food here was reasonably good 'Art kitchen' is only a decent restaurant not a top notch or fine dining restaurant I have a few issues with the pricing here
1) There is only one bottle of white and one bottle of red wine on the wine list that is reasonably priced around £15, every other bottle is over the £20 mark. Far better restaurants like 'Arbutus' and 'Wild honey' in London, and 'The pony and trap' in Bristol for instance, all which hold michelin stars have far more reasonably priced wines. So why charge so much here in a bog-standard thai restaurant? The answer is because it is in Warwick, an affluent area and the locals will pay for it.
2) The price of all of the main meals is for the meat, fish or curry only, you have to pay extra for rice, vegetables etc. So when you pay £14-£16 for a main you then have to pay more for accompaniments so a main course ends up costing you around the £20 mark, there are dozens of different restaurants I can think of where you can get a better meal for that price.
The place reminds me a bit of 'Michael's mediterranean restaurant' in Chipping campden which was also a reasonably authentic restaurant but overpriced for what you got. The night was fine, the people were friendly and the service was good but there are better places to eat for this price. Next time we will stick to 'Tailors' where although the bill comes to around the same price as here I think the food is great and although of a different style, is of a far superior quality than here.
