My family of 4, with 2 young boys loved our stay at the Warwick Arms Hotel. We wanted to get away for just one night and waited too long to book. After several ideas of where to make our one night trip, we settled on Windsor. A ring to Warwick Arms found a family room, with a warning....the room was directly above the area where a disco was going to be held until midnight for an engagement party. We debated finding something else, but decided we'd all be so tired, it wouldn't matter. I rang back and was told a cancellation occured and we were being moved higher, so we wouldn't be on top of the evening entertainment.
We arrived in Windsor just after 10am. We found the carpark (small) and went in to find that our room was ready! great surprise as we were able to see the room and settle in before we returned after dinner with two tired boys. The room had 1 double, 1 single and a small fold-away bed. This worked well for the 4 of us. We actually folded away the metal stand and placed the matress on the floor for the little one for safety sake.
The room was warm. however, we brought a fan with us which helped to drown out any outside noise (we were in room 34, which was on the 2nd floor above Main Street). The beds were very comfortable. No top sheet for the bed. Only a duvet. Much too warm for that. requested 3 sheets from the front desk and they arrived about 10 min later. The ensuite was TINY! but very clean and adequate for the one night. kettle with tea/coffee adequate.
no clock in the room.
being from the US, we are used to wifi (free!) in most locations these days. This hotel charges for internet. they have some kind of modem at the front desk for just over 5 pounds. (that wouldn't have even worked for out iPad to connect) There was NO wifi signal in the room we were situated in.
Breakfast was good. Continental fare to start with and menu of choice for hot breakfasts. The full english was good (although the beans were left off the plates). LOTS of choice for jams, my boys were in heaven!
Location- great! walk one small block over and one back...at the gates of Windsor castle! I think the building is even in the rendering that's inside the castle in minature. close enough to walk out of the castle and back to the room for an hour when the 2 year old needed a little rest.
We didn't eat at the restaurant. although the menu looked good.
There are many options for dining in town, just a short stroll away from the hotel.
We enjoyed our stay at Warwick and will consider a stay at Warwick Arms Hotel if we return to the area!
only downsides: hotel is old! (updated, but old). The bathroom is run on a pump system. it can be very loud in there. Although, I wonder...can it be heard next door/downstairs? I didn't seem to hear anyone else...but we were worried when our boys were up and we were showering at 630a on a Sunday.
