Warwick Golf Centre
Attraction details
Reviewed May 5, 2012 via mobile

A much improved course since my last visit.
Both the range and course are in much better condition than previous years
The clubhouse has also had a revamp and looks much better.
Excellent value I just wish the course played a bit longer

A big tub of balls on the range costs £4.00 so at £8.00 for a 9 hole course where you can practice real golf is good value. The course is quite tight and most fairways narrow due to the fact they want to get 9 holes into a restricted area. Some of the rules are weird, you cannot cut the corner on the par 5 dogleg for safety reasons, why not instal a bell to let following players know that you are out of potential range? If you have never played the course, like me, you are certaintly not guided by tee markings and information. In fact because of the restricted playing area it is quite easy to be playing off the wrong tee into the wrong fairway. As I said, better value than the range however don't expect too much and make your shots accurate. A pleasant 2 hour stroll with very little hassle and some challenges on the way. Watch out for the numerous ditches.

I partly agree with the comments from the other poster. It's not a great course and it needs a lot of money spent on it to bring it up to scratch. At £7.50 for 9 holes it's reasonable value, and you can nip around pretty quickly if you pick a quiet time. Not too challenging, so great for the beginners amongst you. Range balls are pretty terrible, but you accept that at cheaper ranges. Staff have always nice and friendly, be nice to them and they will be nice back. Being honest - you would be better of using the course at Newbold Comyn a few miles up the road. If you want to use a good range, then try the Warwickshire.

The reply by the manager to the other posters comments is pretty shocking though. That alone would put me off.

For anyone who wants a game of golf while on holiday in the Warwick/Stratford area dont come here!

The course 9 holes

Its a council owned course so you dont expect it to be perfect but its really a glorified pitch and put for a decent golfer. Mainly short holes. The greens to be fair are ok but the tees were uneven and poor. Also came across 6 piles of dog muck, lovely!

9 holes was £7 which compared to other council cources is expensive for what your playing. Newbold Comyn golf Course in Leamington Spa is a full length course and a chalenging one too. It is a far better standard and £14 for 18 holes. Warwick wouldn't even make a discount for playing their 9 holes twice; so it works out the same to play a long pitch n put as it does a proper course.

The staff are farely rude, very unhelpfull, and pretty useless.

We played on a saturday about 10ish and the golf shop was closed, and the member of staff refused to open it up to sell me a few tees and balls.

The driving range is poorly equiped with poor, uneven tees most of which were damaged. the balls flew about 50-75 yards less than a decent range ball.

finally the parking tops it off!

You have to get a parking ticket for your car which is free to park. However dont get stuck behind anyone or relax after your round because your ticket only lasts 2 hours. Fortunatly we got back just in time to convince a council parking warden not to slap a £40 ticket on my car. So if your playing 18 be prepared to walk off the course and back to your car and refresh your parking, about 500 yards.

Will never go back
