Last Sunday was our lucky day! A space in the car park near the river and a table at the Rose and Crown for lunch. (We were on a journey up the M40 and hadn't booked).
Our food was excellent. The roast beef was pink, lean and tender - perfect. Gorgeous crispy yorkshire pud and lovely roasties and veg, mixed greens and mashed roots. The sea bream was also cooked perfectly on its bed of creamy mash, with a very tasty clam and samphire salad. A very well thought out dish. The sticky toffee puddings with our mugs of tea and coffee rounded off the meal. The young man serving us was very helpful and friendly and also very efficient.
The Rose and Crown was pretty much full when we arrived and no table remained empty for many minutes as diners left. We can understand why and will be back ourselves.More
