We were part of a group of 8 this weekend gone, for a birthday celebration, right from the start on arrival, the food, the rooms, the Spa, the Spa treatments, the staff were simply wonderful, they met out every expectations and more (except the two managers who were so far into themselves, they were rather rude and pompous) otherwise I cant wait to return hopefully in August for my birthday celebration.

Room Tip: The Safari room was our room and in my opinion the best out of the 4 rooms books

Went here for two nights on a groupon voucher.
Impressive tree lined drive up to the grand Wroxall Abbey Hotel, the country home of Christopher Wren.
Plenty of parking directly in front of the hotel. Entrance was a little tired and uninviting.
Modern reception in a very old building looked out of character. A quick booking in process but no offer to carry luggage.
Bedroom was south facing overlooking garden to the rear of property. Narrow room with twin beds (as requested) wardrobe and dressing table. Room had high ceilings, dark furnishings with a small dressing room off with tea & coffee facilities.
The room was cold, with just a small electric fire, no central heating. It did have air con which you could alterter the tempreture but made no difference. The twin beds had single quilts which were ok if you were 8 stone but not 18. I asked for larger ones which were readily brought to our room.
There was a distinct lack of atmosphere to the whole place. We went to the lounge bar and asked for afternoon tea. The log fire was nearly out but with some persuasion got it to flicker into life with a little help. the whole hotel felt cold and unwelcoming. The staff were very pleasant at all times.
We went out for dinner the first night but had booked a 5 course meal on the second night. Again it was
a groupn voucher our Son & Daughter in law had bought us for Christmas.
In the evening the place had warmed up with several fires burning around the house and dimmed lights and candles which gave the whole house a different atmosphere altogether.
The barman , Michael was a charming and polite young man who served our drinks in a professional but friendly manner.
We chose from the menu and after 20 minutes were show to the dimly lit and warm dining room. The waiter, Kyle was also very polite and professional in the service throughout the evening. The Manager hardly spoke or acknowledged us all evening. The food was well presented, cooked to our liking and of good quality. I could not fault service or food throughout the evening. We retired back to the lounge bar for coffee and were befriended by the night porter, Phil. He was very chatty and sat and spoke to us for sometime as as he had come in early. He even sat at the grand piano and played a couple of Billy Joel numbers for us which was really appreciated as there were no other guests around. Thank you to Phil, Michael & Kyle who made our night an enjoyable experience.
My wife & I enjoyed the spar facilities which included a small gym, large swimming pool, steam room & Sauna, all free to residents. There were some treatments available at an additional cost.
There is in the grounds the only Cathederal ever built on a private estate.
I would return but only through Groupon or special offers. If you want to visit a large old & nostagic periencethat has a history attached to it, it is worth the experience.

Room Tip: Ask to stay in the abbey & not the mansion. book spar treatments befor going.

Due to mixed reviews was unsure if to book up or not as was in much needed break due to illness, however , booked up,staff were very helpful on end of phone as I'm very particular about room type/ colour etc, they chose us room 65 . Upon arrival, warm welcome at reception, stunning scenery(snow on grounds),room was beautiful with roll top bath, full use of pool, gym, sauna, jacquizi (a bonus).eve meal - lovely. Only downfall was no hot choc sachets in room for bedtime! & waiting staff forgot our sorbet ( despite fact table was set with sorbet spoon), we had 5 course menu). Apart from that, could not fault, peaceful sleep, definately good value for money, & will return for sure.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Wroxall on the 8th/9th Feb as we were attending our friend's wedding. From the moment we arrived we found the staff to be polite, talkative and very accomodating. We stayed in room 63 and could not get over the beauty and standard of this room! Our room looked over the gardens and the view was breath taking! Every member of staff from the bar through to reception were really helpful and friendly. They really went out of their way to make sure my friend had the day she wanted. The venue was absolutely stunning. We would defiantly stay again, in fact, we didn't want to leave at all! We really enjoyed every second of our stay.

The most magical and amazing day ever all thanks to the fantastic team at Wroxall especially Lauren. We had to worry about absolutely nothing, as the team there want nothing more than to make your day special.
The food, accommodation and grounds are amazing.
We were lucky enough to get married in the cathedral by the very relaxing and warming Revd Christopher Beard who carried out a wonderful service.
We shall be returning in March for a 2 night stay and we can't wait

Thank you so much to you all

Room Tip: Room 46 and 66 are great rooms

Attended a family wedding on 9th Feb 2013. The wedding was fabulous cannot fault meal at all. We booked a superior room, room No 62 expecting a good room with a goods night sleep.
The room was a good size with a lovely view. The window did not open but the air con in the room was in need of a service, even when turned off the fan was so loud that we had no sleep at all. The towel rail in the bathroom was not securely fixed and when reaching to dry my hands the towel rail fell on my foot badly bruising two of my toes!! The mattress had springs coming through it and the room overall did not look as though it had been cleaned. There were several marks on the mirror on the wardrobe and also the sink in the bathroom was cracked. Also the room is directly above where the disco was and the room was constantly vibrating until midnight. We tried contacting reception several times during the night but no one answered. At 6.30 a.m. when walking out the door I noticed a lot of dust and rubbel and when looking up noticed 3 panels missing from the ceiling I went to reception and asked if the reception was manned 24 hours and was told yes, but the night porter was serving guests to drinks in the bar, he also said that the lady in room 48 had problems and that is why they had taken down ceiling panels to try and get things sorted for her I spoke to the Manager who apologiesed and did refund the cost of the room. I was so glad to return home and get some sleep. I was not asked to complete any accident form for my bruised toes and really think the reception needs to be manned in case of an emergency.

Many thanks for taking the time to write your review and please accept our apologies that your stay at Wroxall Abbey was not everything you hoped it would be.
As this was an exclusive wedding, with only wedding guests staying at the hotel, the Bride and Groom were in control of the disco which played until midnight.
Room 62 is a popular Superior room and as with all our bedrooms has an opening window, this has now been checked by our Maintenance Department.
The hotel is pleased to provide 24 hour service, which is exemplified in your review by our Night Porter serving guests in the Bar and assisting a lady in a nearby room.
After speaking with our Resident Manager on the morning of your departure, he immediately addressed and resolved the issues you experienced with the relevant departments and in the circumstances gave you a full refund.

We love Wroxall, it is not your ordinary type of country house hotel, it is not the most luxurious hotel either but the atmosphere, the kitsch art-deco furniture, and the amazing grounds are always a pleasure to visit.
If you want to get away or just want to have a nice weekend with friends and family, this is the place to stay. Make sure you have your walking boots with you, as the grounds are amazing for walking and exploring the area. The chapel is breathtaking.
