Owner description: Charlecote Park has been home to the Lucy family since the 12th century. Their stories are told throughout the house by their portraits, the objects they collected from around the world and the design influence they had on the house and parkland. See how Mary Elizabeth Lucy remodeled the house in Victorian times. The gardens include a formal parterre, woodland walk and the wider parkland (inspired by 'Capability' Brown), which offer walks with picturesque views across the River Avon. A herd of fallow deer has been in the park since Tudor times.

Lovely national Trust property. We visited when the house was closed but that was ok as we thoroughly enjoyed a walk around the estate

Lots to see both inside and out. Lovely grounds and a river. Herds of deer and rare breed sheep. History galore. Gift shop and garden centre nearby at the car park.

Super place to spend a day. Great National Trust property. The house and outbuildings are very interesting and the Tudor costume talk was very good and my granddaughter learnt a lot. The grounds are large and we had a very interesting and informative talk by our guide. Never seen so many deer running around and you could get quite close to them. Learnt a lot about the estate management from our guide. The produce stall was excellent and very reasonable, as were the plants. The cafe was good value and the meals good. We have returned.

Several of the rooms were full of covered furniture being stored whilst other rooms were being rewired. Disappointing really but the house is stunning and the grounds are lovely. We went on our way back from somewhere else so we were really only interested in seeing the house. We will still go back in the Spring when it's fully open though.

Living locally, the partner and I decided to visit Charlecote Park. The grounds were great to wander around whilst watching the deer, whilst the house was interesting enough to keep our attentions from failing. The staff within the house were very helpful although those at the entrance were very poorly organised and seemed to take for ever to process our NT membership.

Be warned that ths is not a 'big house' experience and there is probably not enough to make a full day of it, but it's great for an afternoon out. The fruit and veg stall by the car park was also an interesting addition. I'm also told that you can canoe down the river at the back of the house.
