Owner description: St Johns House, a Jacobean Mansion located in Warwick, has a history spanning almost 900 years. The land on which the current building now stands was originally used as a hospital in the 12th century. The current house has been used as a private residence, a school and administrative offices of the War Department in the early 20th century. Latterly the building was bought by Warwickshire County Council and turned into a Museum, which was opened to the public in 1960. Please note, from April 1st 2017 the Museum will not be available for public visits, but by pre-arranged schools and groups only. The Museum will be open to the general public on Heritage Open Weekends. On the first floor of the house is The Royal Warwickshire Regiment of Fusiliers Museum, visit their website for opening hour details

I love this museum and have visited it lots of times with and without my children!
I love the fact that its free, the garden area is really nice and it's just a very interesting pace to visit.

Took my year ones here as part of their project. Staff amazing. Children can role play and everything is hands on which gives children (and adults) a fantastic experience. Fab

We asked the Tourism office for places to visit, and St Johns sounded like a place to go.

Only a short walk from St Mary's and a great place to go.

Very clean and tidy, a nice mix artifacts on display.

Lovely friendly staff and a beautiful building.

I visited St John's House museum after an afternoon in St Nicholas Park. It is located very near to Warwick Castle, and there is plenty of reasonably priced parking. There are some great exhibits about life in Victorian times, wooden toys, clothes through the ages and a Victorian classroom set-up. Upstairs is the military museum of the Warwickshire museum. It's a lovely place and worth a visit if you're nearby.

Visited to try and find information regarding a family tree, the staff where fantastic they couldn't do enough for us. There knowledge was 10 out of 10. Gave us a real insight into the day to day life of the troops in the horror of the trenches, during world war 1. They found just what we where looking for. We managed only a quick look round the rest of the museum but will be back again
