Spent 2 nights recently and was not put off by some of the negative reviews.
Its quirky indeed and has the potential to be brilliant. However, the place needs cleaning and it seems to be existing just due to its iconic structure and years of history.
Surely you still need to try though.
Our room had a catflap for a door - well not quite, but room 3 had a rather low door. The door top was below my shoulder and I'm just over 6ft.
The route to our room was reminenscent of Its a Knockout, and if planning permission were now sought for a similar building the HSE wouldn't allow it.
It's noisy at night with all extractor fans driven by a noisy contraption out in the rear courtyard. Even the ghosts have left.
The pillows were like a bin-bag filled with dishcloths, although I now take my own on such trips
Breakfast was okay, but we did eat there one evening and it was just overpriced average pub-grub.
It was well located and offered free parking to about 4 cars directly in front of the hotel. Overall it was bit like the curry I had in the town centre - it looked fine, but didn't really deliverMore
