Owner description: Imagine a totally electrifying day out at Britain’s ultimate castle. Where you can immerse yourself in a thousand years of jaw-dropping history – come rain or shine.Where ancient myths and spell-binding tales set your imagination alight, and your hair on end. Where princesses are pampered and maidens are wooed, as winners become true heroes and losers are confined to dark, dank dungeons to be forgotten for eternity. It could only be Warwick Castle.

We used Tesco Clubcard vouchers to buy our tickets which made it a reasonable day out. We would have been disappointed if paid full price or even the 2 for 1 offers you can always get. Disappointed that car parking is extra but we did pay the extra and park in the Castle car park which was well worth it. The bird of prey show was good, the peacocks were entertaining and the grounds lovely. Up on the ramparts they could do with some info boards to show what direction you are looking in. My 79 year old mum managed the towers and ramparts although there are lots of winding steps (as described) but she was determined! We didn't pay for the extra optional attractions and took a picnic.

Stayed in the area and had a day trip to the Castle. Luckily had a 2 for 1 voucher which eased the cost, but I think it would have been over priced if I had no voucher.
It is a fun place for the kids and there is plenty to for them to do, but for a couple you do not need a full day. A trip round the house was entertaining, as the guide was very informative and enthusiastic, in fact all the staff seemed to be fun and friendly.
The gardens were pleasant to stroll round and as the weather was warm and sunny this made it all the better.

What an absolute disgrace Warwick Castle has become! This magnificent, well preserved medieval castle has been turned into a gaudy and ridiculous American type theme park.
There is a very small selection of items and info from the past, but mainly it is just badly performed exhibits.
The dungeon was a joke, can't believe we wasted our money, it was like a mind numbing walking ghost ride!
The Merin tour was just as bad just quicker and another on to get money out of you! They weren't happy when you wouldn't pose for there attempt at novel, overly priced photos before the exhibits.
W saw so many beautiful castles, that were given the respect they deserve, such a shame Warwick Castle owners didn't have the same view.
Kids under 10 might enjoy it, I couldn't wait to get out of the overpriced gaudy theme park!

There are many castles in Britain to visit, Warwick Castle is the highest priced and most commercialised one. Due to the high amount of commercialisation, it's probably the one that most people have heard of. Advertising works !

The constant 'film' music played in the courtyard, the endless attempts to extract more money from you, the £6 charge for the car-park and the number of attractions which aren't included in your ticket fee are very annoying. I feel sorry for parents who take their children and are consequently pestered to death for a £7 photo of the child in a princess outfit, or a £20 wooden sword.

However. The free shows are good and appropriate (falconry display, firing the trebuchet, raising the portcullis, archery). The waxworks in the Kingmaker and the Royal Weekend exhibitions are actually a good way of bringing the history of the castle to life (we can thank the previous owners, the Tussauds Group, for this. ) It's a shame that the original dungeons have been taken over for the theatrical (and chargeable) 'experience', but there is still a small, dark and genuinely atmospheric 'Gaol' which you can climb down the stairs to visit.

There is a lot here, so in that respect you get some value for money. Arrive as early as you can to make the most of your ticket - the portcullis opening happens ionly once at 10.30am.

Toilet facilities in the castle were inadequate - we went on a quiet day, but still had to queue.

The large amount of stairs make it unsuitable for those with limited mobility.

My advice would be to look for a discounted deal. There are often 2-for-1 offers for Merlin Group attractions, and it's worth searching online for discounted tickets. I'd say a price of £10 per adult and £7 per child would be appropriate. The current pricing is extortionate. You can visit fantastic historic castles such as Edinburgh Castle, Hampton Court or the Tower of London for a similar price and get everything included in your ticket price, with much more to see and do, and a much more authentic experience.
