First we booked to see " As you Like it " at the RSC in Stratford, next we needed a hotel for a couple of nights - we use Holiday Inn's quite a bit and usually find them to be very good. However
this particular Holiday Inn Express is much better than very good.
It is situated just off the M40 at junction 15, which is really convenient but does not suffer from much traffic noise as the hotel stands in its own grounds, along with a pub/carvery called the
" Porridge Pot " j
The car park is very well laid out and is reached via a barrier system for which there is a charge for non guests. It is well lit and covered by CCTV - this was particularly re assuring for us as we have just purchased a new Jaguar ( which is a bit like my new puppy )
The whole external appearance is very pleasant and well kept, which gives you a good feeling even before you get into the hotel. Once inside you see that the lounge/reception and breakfast areas are in very good condition, the decor is great and the whole place comes over so clean and tidy - to be honest I have stayed in much larger hotels and some of them could learn a thing or two from this Holiday Inn Express.
We booked a family room and was told that these are " corner rooms " so that they give you a bit more space, this was so true the room was more than adequate for our needs, it was very well decorated and well maintained. The beds and sofa bed were very comfortable. Of special note was the cleanliness and attention to detail, after asking several questions I found out that the cleaning is carried out by contract cleaners, I sought out the head house keeper ( a charming lady called Lyn ) to thank her for her really hard work and diligence, to be blunt it's a shame that Lyn can't be cloned as every hotel would benefit massively from their very own Lyn.
Two other members of staff that were excellent were Patrick and Nathan, both of these young men deserve recognition, they were very friendly and helpful and we were able to have a laugh with both of them - these two people are special and really understand the hospitality business.
We can't understand some of the negative feedback regarding the breakfast, we feel that you get a decent breakfast that will set you up for the day and it nice to see that for once there was a hotel that actually had soya milk.
The hotel is dog friendly which is great as we take our nine year old Yorkshire Terrier with us everywhere - well she does have Impeccable manners.
All in all we had a great stay and we just hope that the Holiday Inn Express that we have booked in Derby/Nottingham will be as good as this one.
One final thing, I started off by mentioning " As you Like it " at the RSC, the trouble was we DID NOT like it at all - a very poor production indeed. Thank goodness the Holiday Inn Express was so good, it really made up for the RSCs shortfall.

Travelling back to Scotland by car we stopped off for an overnight stay having booked by phone only an hour previously. Service at reception was friendly, the room was well up to standard, dinner, which was excellent, was able to be booked by reception at the "Porridge Pot" (Pub and Carvery) next door. Next morning the breakfast, which was included in the price, was mostly continental but cooked sausages, scrambled eggs and beans were available for those who wanted more.
The price was very reasonable and the location was good and very quiet.
I recommend this hotel.

Five of us booked into this hotel aware that it would not be up to the Holiday inn Hotels standards, well was I wrong, being an express hotel did not vary from the bigger hotels upper class standard. The staff were very helpful, the rooms were adequate and had everything at hand. I cannot faulter the rooms or staff, however the only reason I gave it four stars is because they only had scrambled egg, sausage and beans for breakfast. The full english seems to have disappeared, however there was sufficient cereals, etc. I feel it essential to also mention that onsite there is a restaurant called the Porridge Pot, I highly recommend this for atmosphere, food and service.

Now that this particular Holiday Inn Express has completed its make-over, it regains my 'recommended' status. Located in its own grounds, close by J15 of the M40, it is ideal for Warwick's attractions and also Leamington Spa, Stratford-upon-Avon, et al.
It is possible to get some very good rates at certain times and, as a commendable breakfast is included, it is a force to be reckoned with in an area which is not short of hotels.
Extra points for: dog friendly. Lose points for: charging for the car park.

Stayed here last year and again this March. Comfortable and adequate room, slept very well. Good choice for breakfast which is free. Very good location for Stratford, Warwick Castle and Coventry. Well worth what we paid. Stayed over the road at the Hilton for one of our nights and much preferred the Holiday Inn Express for comfort. All staff were polite and helpful
