We were in room one, first floor front over the entrance door. Comfortable refurbished room with nice modern bathroom. Internet connection was complicated and had to be resolved at bar level. Lack of guest check in/out reception at ground floor was not good in the middle of a busy bar. Cannot be controlled by the Old Coffee Tavern but the Council decision to empty every bin and bottle bank outside our window at 7.00am on Friday morning was not good. However, with breakfat (Continental) value for money

Room tip: Perhaps rear room to escape the early bin man activities!

The room was wonderful and clean. The bathroom was perfect and recently updated. The dining area and pub was comfortable and cosy. The conteniantal breakfast was great and sufficient for me. If I could, I would definitely come again.

The hotel staff were absolutely lovely, very helpful and friendly. I popped down to the bar to get a little jug of milk and ended up chatting for ages!
The room was clean and well put together and taken care of and the wifi was fast.
Very pleased overall

This is a lovely pub/guest house. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was great; clean, comfortable, and stylish. In a good location, walking distance from shops, castle, St Nicholas park. A very enjoyable stay. Would go back!!

Great location except for the church bells that went off all day .There isn’t really a reception area to check in so a little annoying when the bar is full. Also on day of checkout woke up to housekeepers knocking on the door even tho the “do not disturb” sign was on and it was day of checkout ?Its a great place if you don’t want to have a lie in as it’s quite noisy in the morning as you can hear the housekeepers vacuuming and chatting .I read reviews about breakfast and therefore was expecting more then just the basic cereal and toast /pastry options.

On a positive note the staff were friendly and the room was great ,it had very high ceilings and had everything you needed. Very comfortable and spacious .

Thank you
