Booked this restaurant over the internet by chance, it was lovely, food ambience and location a great find. If I visited Stratford-upon-avon again I would book again at this restaurant.

“Are you feeling lucky today?”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 2, 2013

If you get the service you expect, it may just have been your lucky day.
It certainly wasn't ours when we visited!
We booked to eat at here after reading the reviews on Trip Advisor.
We arrived on time and the place was pretty empty as it was quite early evening.
The staff was not very attentive and we did not feel at all "welcomed"
The menus were handed to us without much interaction, although the "specials" were reeled through quickly without any detail.
We saw little attention during the meal but were fortunate that everything was OK, otherwise it would have been a while before we could let anyone know of any problem.
The whole experience was rather like a "non event" with little to enjoy about it other than the good food.
I have come to expect more than just good food when eating out and paying for additional levels of service and can agree with others on here when saying that the Sorrento is not at all "... a taste of Italy" or Sorrento that I have experienced first hand

“Very pleasant dining experience.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 2, 2013

We booked a pre-theatre meal for two & were very pleased with the welcome & attention received. The choice for this set menu was very varied & more extensive than many similiar establishments. Quality of food & service was excellent & the whole experience well worth the short extra walk from the Theatre.

“Anniversary Meal”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 1, 2013

We visited Sorrento on Friday 31 May to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Sorrento is our favourite restaurant in Stratford Upon Avon so we tend to have a meal with them on every 'occasion' that we can. The food is always top class, the staff are always very welcoming and friendly and the atmosphere is always good. Eating at Sorrento is always special. Thank you very much for a lovely evening x

“Where were the Italians ?”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 31, 2013

I booked this restaurant to celebrate my wifes birthday and put this information on the form when I booked online, there was no mention of her birthday by any of the staff throughout our visit. We are very fond of the Italian tradition for sharing a celebration and this is the first "Italian" restuarant we have visited that doesn't bother. There was no atmosphere but we were there for 7 pm so maybe it was a bit early. Strangely there was no smell of "Italian" food when we arrived and we were greeted by a lady with a very "non Italian" accent. The food was ok but lacked any of the "Italian" depth of flavour, the service was ok but lacked any "Italian" style. I'm sorry people but if this Stratford's example of an authentic family run Italian restaurant it's a long way off the mark for me, definately no return visit from us.
