Judging by the reviews you may be lulled into thinking here we have the perfect Italian slap bang in the middle of the wonderful Stratford upon Avon. And many, like us, no doubt, will visit on that strength even given the wealth of other eating options in town.

First impressions are of an up market mid size restuarant with white cotton tablecloths and a rack of good wine adorning the wall. It's a decent if little bright ambience and on a rainy Saturday night was only modestly half full.

Second impression is that on our night at least there was not one Italian accent to be found. Mostly eastern european and one very nice lady who sounded English. Have you ever been to an Italian not run by Italians? Small point but it came to sum up the whole non authentic experience.

Then to the menu or menus, for we were given a folder whose wine listing was five times the length of the food options and a scrappy piece of printed A4 with specials on. All highlight the two course / three course price options like this is some tourist gaff in Leicester Sq. Less a la carte and more "you're on a tight budget so let's make it easy". Once you've worked out what could go with what, so to the food itself.

The salad that came with the mozzarella was pitiful and without dressing - a few pieces of lettuce and ribbon carrots and onion. The sort you would expect at a motorway service station - even McDonalds does better. The pasta main was a plain plate of penne in a basic tomato sauce and the pork escalaope, dry and sprinkled with rocket even though it had the accompanying salad, - again as above.

The wait staff were so unbusy and disorganised we were offered pepper twice and to pay the bill twice but throughout you could catch their eye for service and they ignored you.

Maybe it was an off night all round and the normal chef had the night off to watch the fireworks?

The poorest Italian ever eaten in and for the price even given its budget course options, a waste of good money.

Used this restaurant during our stay in Stratford. Food really nice and the atmosphere good. Only marking down because we found the menu a little complicated to understand. Maybe us! Nothing otherwise to fault and would go again and recommend to others

Best meal of our entire time in the UK (3weeks). This is a remarkably authentic Southern Italian restaurant. Staff is professional but warm, food is fantastic. Really can't say enough about how good it was. Don't miss it, but make reservations!

Very good food in a warm and comfortable setting. Staff were friendly and helpful. One of the waitresses (Eastern European?) was a little brusque, but efficient.

Service was perfectly timed (no long waits between courses) and all dishes for our party of 5 arrived together.

Slightly disappointing not to serve pizzas on a Saturday night, but that's just a personal preference.

Good pasta and risotto dishes. Lots of seasfood choices.

The only very minor niggle was the format of the menu. We're regular diners at restaurants and it took us a little while to unravel the menu choices (2 or 3 course set menu, daily specials, and a la carte menus). You could choose dishes from the specials menu as part of the 2 or 3 course menu for additional costs. or some starters could be upgraded to a main course etc. This all gives the diner greater choice, but sometimes simpler is better! We'd have strongly prefered to see a list of all the starters, and a seperate list of all the mains, rather than trying to flick backwards and forwards between several pages of the menus.

My Wife and I fancied pizza. We turned up here, ordered our drinks but then discovered that they don't serve pizza in the evenings. Despite that, the ranking on Trip Advisor made us stay and were pleased we did. Mozzarella in breadcrumbs with salad to start - very tasty. My wife had lasagne, I had a chicken in a wine & mushroom sauce. Not the best mushroom sauce I've ever had but still had a lovely flavour. Portion sizes werent huge but enough to leave you full after 2 courses - although i managed to squeeze in a desert! Staff were very friendly and very efficient - certainly cant fault them at all. Good value too!
It was a very pleasant dining experience and we would recommend this place to anyone visiting.
Thank you to the kitchen and waiting staff for a lovely meal and dining experience.
