“Flatters to Deceive”
Reviewed June 13, 2013

OK service. Place was buzzing. Herb crusted fish had neither herbs or any kind of crust. Food so over salted that even a side order of chips was inedible. Clearly this place seems popular. I have no idea why. Avoid.

“Friendly Staff...Good Food...”
Reviewed June 13, 2013

We intended to eat elsewhere but arrived to find our intended destination closed so walked around the corner to find what just looked like a good traditional pub...lots of chalkboards, cask ales advertised and a few customers sitting outside in the early evening sun watching the world go by; so we took a chance and went in - I'm glad we did. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the cask ales were faultless and the food was fine with everything being reasonably priced though not cheap - why should it be? My only complaint is that the menu actually encourages diners to bring children, which is fine, but I don't think that diners should have to be distracted by children running round the place and parents sorting out games of hide and seek to keep them entertained; at any time but certainly not late evening.

Thank you for reviewing The One Elm, we love to hear about our guests experiences. Generally we are more of an adults pub but we are a family pub so do get some kids in, hope they didn’t put you off visiting us again.
Thanks Julie

“Only place in Stratford to get Fruli (besides tesco!)”
Reviewed June 10, 2013

We visited the one elm one sunny Sunday afternoon after hearing that they sell Fruli ( If you haven't tried it... you need too!)

We were very pleasantly surprised. The pub was lovely & homely & the food smelt lovely. The staff behind the bar were so friendly & we will definitely be returning!!

“Worst sunday lunch ive had.”
Reviewed June 10, 2013

Normally i dont write reviews but felt this was needed. I see im not the only person that thinks the sunday lunches at the One Elm should be avoided.
Welcomed well by the bar staff, very helpful and polite.
Previous Aubrey Allen meat I have had has always been wonderful. This was just awful. Asked for the beef pink, it came hard and as well done as it could have been. Roasties had no flavour to them at all. Cauliflower cheese came slightly burnt. Presentation also poor.
Really dissapointing as the food from their sister pubs is fantastic. Will not be returning one elm. Sorry.

Thank you for taking the time to review us. It’s a great help for us to see and hear what our guest's experience so we can make sure we improve and ensure everyone has a great time, and in turn come back.
We are sorry that on this visit we did not come up to scratch with your lunch. Roasts are such an important part of our offer and we should be offering a great value Sunday lunch where you go away feeling full and wanting to come back for more.
It is truly important that we do this and I am sorry that we let you down on this occasion. We have as a team looked at this feedback and are making changes. Thank you for your time and we hope to see you back here one day soon so we can make amends, so if you do plase ask for me, Julie.
