We intended to eat elsewhere but arrived to find our intended destination closed so walked around the corner to find what just looked like a good traditional pub...lots of chalkboards, cask ales advertised and a few customers sitting outside in the early evening sun watching the world go by; so we took a chance and went in - I'm glad we did. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the cask ales were faultless and the food was fine with everything being reasonably priced though not cheap - why should it be? My only complaint is that the menu actually encourages diners to bring children, which is fine, but I don't think that diners should have to be distracted by children running round the place and parents sorting out games of hide and seek to keep them entertained; at any time but certainly not late evening.
