“What a gorgeous place to spend the weekend!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 25, 2013

We spent a lovely weekend at the College Arms 11-13 October. Taking advantage of their 3 for 2 offer, we stayed 3 nights for the price of 2! We picked this Inn because it was dog friendly, of historical interest and near to places where we could take the dog for lots of lovely walks. On arrival a very friendly barman showed us to our room - Magdelene - the King Size four poster bed absolutely dominated the space but the room was beautiful, comfortable and provided us with everything we needed for the weekend. Having made us feel very welcome, the staff set about making our stay as comfortable as possible. Most of our meals were taken in the Henry restaurant, and because we didn't want to leave our Poppy (the dog) alone, an inglenook away from the other diners was reserved for us. The meals were absolutely awesome, all credit to the chef I have to say. As for the hosts and the remaining staff, we were treated like absolute royalty for the duration of our stay, everyone loved Poppy, nothing was too much trouble and table service with all costs going onto our room so that we could settle up at the end of the weekend and not have to worry about carrying cash.

The College Arms itself is a lovely old building full of the character expected of a building of its time, the current owners have been very sympathetic with the décor and furnishings, a real treat to spend time their plus with this being the only pub in Lower Quinton, it wont be long before the fabulous locals are offering helpful insight into the local area.

Straight ahead, a short walk away is the church of St.Quinton, to the back of which is a kissing gate, the beginning of a local public footpath, with a bit of ingenuity, you can follow the path to Moen Hall, which we did, in the pouring rain on the last day of our stay having pieced the route together over the previous two days - well worth the saturation.

I suspect that we will be going back someday soon.

My cousin and her husband were visiting from Canada and wanted to visit Stratford-upon-Avon and the Cotswolds. I selected the College Arms based on its proximity to Stratford and it's historical background. I am so glad that I did because I cannot speak highly enough of the hospitality and welcome we received. The food was excellent and the service very good. My Canadian visitors were highly impressed and went away with very happy memories of their first visit to the Cotswolds. Thank you to Marylin and her team for making our stay so enjoyable.

Enjoyed lunch here two days in a row whilst working locally. Very welcoming staff on both occasions who went out of their way to ensure that we were seated and comfortable. Two well kept real ales available as well as a good menu and a few specials as well.

All food was piping hot and very tasty indeed, especially the home made Steak & Ale pie. Really nice little garden as well though, larger tables only available inside.

What a find. It ticks every box for me. It's a beautiful old inn, genuinely ancient decor and artefacts. It's big enough to cater for a lot of different things though. If you want to watch Sky Sports, you can without disturbing others. The restaurant part is gorgeous and the meal was superb. There's a pool table and jukebox tucked away in another room. Outside is a fabulous cottage garden to sit out in. We stayed in the Magadalene room, black decor, four poster, comfy bed. Wonderful. The hosts are so friendly and the cherry on the cake was playing Richard Hawley for us and leaving us to it in the bar at last orders! How's that for trust?! Lastly, the breakfast set us up for the rest of the day and was scrumptious. Quite simply probably the best place we've ever stayed.

My fiancé and I went to The College Arms for dinner after driving past a sign for it. We were glad that we followed the sign! From the outside the pub looks inviting and once inside, the restaurant was very cosy and welcoming. We ordered 1 fish and chips and 1 caesar salad with chicken strips. The food arrived really quickly and was delicious and really well presented! The staff were also really friendly and couldn't do enough to help us and the other diners, in fact, when we first walked in to the pub the staff were so friendly that you could have been walking into their home rather than a business! I would say if I had to pick a fault it would be that I thought the food was very slightly overpriced at £31 for the 2 main meals, a water and a pint but the quality is good so that is what you're paying for. I would highly recommend this pub and would not think twice about going back.

Genuinely dog friendly (and human friendly!) place to stay. Rooms very comfortable, and the food is good. We will definitely come back! Not least because this is a 'proper' country pub that caters for a lively local clientele whilst making visitors warmly welcome. Somebody behind the bar knows a thing or two about selecting and keeping real ale too.
We stayed here to break our journey from the south coast to Scotland. I would urge anybody plodding their way up the M40 to consider The College Arms as a restorative alternative to motorway motels.

Have frequented this establishment many many times and have always found the service , staff and food to be exceptional.

My wife and I had a lovely evening meal at the College Arms last Wednesday evening , the food was divine and amazing value and nothing was to much trouble as usual for the senior waiting staff who are always happy to provide service with a smile.

We will definitely be back , maybe for a drink on Sunday lunch time in the warm and welcoming bar area , expertly managed by Marilyn and Ben who create a wonderful atmosphere for all of their customers
