“Great amble along the tramway”

We wanted a reasonable walk on a day when there had been a lot of rain, so this was ideal - the tarmac path on the old tramway heading out of town in the Shipston direction (South). We started near the Butterfly farm. Some good views of the Avon, pleasant environment, and you can dart off to the tramway pub en route if you wish (we didn't). Once it hits the outskirts of Stratford, it is not so enclosed, but you cross the main road and drop in on Waitrose if you want before returning.

Had a very pleasant walk down the avon. Great to take a few pictures of the RSC and the holy trinity church as well as the weir. The walk down as far as the weir is the extent of the disappointing cruise so save your money and walk.

It had rained hard overnight but the paths were clear and safe to walk on.

We turned up the other side of the river and went to the holy trinity church which was pleasant although they were getting ready to armistice day

Almost wish I had brought the dogs!

We walked four miles along this from where we were staying into Stratford, on a sunny October day. The walk was very pleasant, going through woods and fields, sometimes next to the river and sometimes further away. There is seating and you can stop off to look at locks. The route is very well signposted right up to the point that you get into Stratford. At this point we lost the trail but since we'd reached the Holy Trinity Church we stopped off to visit Shakespeare's grave.

A "easy to stroll" trail that most people regardless of age, fitness could undertake. Ample seating along the route allows for you just to sit and absorb the river and surrounds. Great views and photo opportunities along the way. Seeing as you are walking past, you might want to enter Holy Trinity Church and visit the burial place of William Shakespeare with Anne Hathaway buried beside. A very pleasant way to spend an hour or two, especially on a fine day.

What a lovely walk - lots of lovely things to see - buildings - wildlife and much more. Lots of cafe's along your way along with some very nice bars. Well worth a visit with your family or your loved one.
