Owner description: Mary Arden's Farm was the childhood home of Shakespeare's mother. Today you can experience all the sights, sounds and smells of a working Tudor farm, just as it would have been when Shakespeare was a boy. Watch "Tudors" go about their daily routine, see rare breed animals and explore nature trails. There are daily falconry displays and archery at weekends and in school holidays. There is a playground for children from 2 upwards, a picnic area and a cafe. Mary Arden's Farm is a working farm that keeps pace with the season so there is always something new to see and do.The Farm is open seasonally from Easter to the end of October half-term.The Farm is 3 miles from the centre of Stratford-upon-Avon in the village of Wilmcote. There are buses and trains to Wilmcote. The train journey takes 5 minutes and the Farm is a short walk from Wilmcote rail station. It is also a pleasant walk along the canal from the centre of Stratford.

“Great for kids,maybe not adults”
Reviewed October 8, 2012

This is actually a working farm. There is a trail of roses to follow but, as the roses are numbered on the map but not on the actual signposts in front of you, it is impossible to follow in order! There are loads of re-enactors, but they were totally wrapped up with the kids that were there and had no time for us. Really disappointed as I had paid too! Tried to strike up a conversation with someone in costume chopping wood but he was pretty morose. If you go make sure it is in school hols and around midday as the best thing was that all the workers sit down to a tudor lunch and chat to you, giving lots of info and an insight to daily life. They will also answer any questions. Kids will love this place but adults need to pick their day and time!

“Interesting and fun”
Reviewed September 28, 2012

Had a fab day here - loved the falconry display and watching Mistress Sarah and her friend making dinner for the household. Everyone was very knowledgeable and happy to answer questions. We were impressed by the efforts the staff made to make the day interesting for the group of schoolchildren that were visiting for the day, including dressing them all up in tudor style costumes.

“Loved it”

Peole dressed in period costume acting out a day in the life of the occupants. There was a school party there with the kids dressed in costume learning what life was like in Tudor time. I learnt just as much as them

“Great Farm & Falconry show”
Reviewed September 24, 2012

The working farm from Shakespeare`s time was very enjoyable. We arrived around 2pm as a falconry show was to start. Very good. Loved all the animals, particularly the little pigs. Various trails & walks. Liked the green bird trail. It was very sunny when we were there. The cafe was nice too. We sat out with Shakespeare tea and cakes.
