“Scant info available”
Reviewed September 23, 2013

Another of the Shakespeare Trust houses that would be well overpriced unless you bought a ticket for all 5 properties. When entering the house you are given a laminated sheet with a short amount of info on it about each room and the pieces within. The staff are friendly and helpful too, but there isn't really a great deal to see to be honest. The small garden is well kept and pretty with a huge fallen tree in it, but no info available so a bit disappointing and we were in and out in less than half an hour.

“Interesting house”
Reviewed September 20, 2013

This was a friendly house, and was once the home of Shakespeare’s daughter, Susanna, who married a physician, John Hall. Furnished in Tudor style, there are some beautiful pieces of furniture here including an intricately carved child’s highchair. There is an interesting display of medical bits and pieces, including the text book that John Hall wrote in 1657. It seems that there is quite a lot of restoration needed to keep this lovely house safe, let’s hope the money can be raised. The gardens are pretty, too, though it was raining when we visited so we didn’t really get to look round them.
We bought the 5 house combined ticket (£20.50 for us as we are concessions) and it is valid for a whole year which is great value.

“Well Informed Hostesses!”
Reviewed September 19, 2013

We enjoyed visiting the house and grounds very much but enjoyed it even more after asking questions to one of the hostesses who wound up giving us a lively thirty minute history lesson, historical timeline, and archeological dig results story!

This was another nice house. We didn't spend too much time here though as not a whole lot to look at really.
