“Stingy breakfast”
Reviewed November 16, 2012

Warm welcome from the lady in charge. One of the rooms was being decorated so there was a whiff of paint in the air. Room was average. Mould on the walls and ceiling wasn't nice, nor was the old fashioned bed linen. No noise heard from the road at night. Cooked breakfast was poor, a rather poor looking sausage, a handful of beans, some bacon and an egg. Had more toast to fill me up. Location ideal for sightseeing.
Towels and tablecloths had seen better days and were in poor condition. Lady complained about having guests to serve which made us feel unwelcome.

Me and my husband received a warm welcome from the lady in charge. We were given the attic room which was ok, but had 2 single beds in it, and no room to push them together due to the low ceiling which was disappointing. We did arrive a little late though due to traffic, which might have had something to do with us being given that room. The room was small and difficult to walk round, again due to the low ceiling. The hot water in the shower cut off twice whilst I was in it. (Wasn't in that long at all), and when my husband tried to have one, there was no hot water at all. However, the bedding was clean and fresh, and the bedroom and rest of the hotel was clean and tidy. Location was perfect for a small walk into Stratford which is lovely.

Very clean rooms, good breakfast, great location, but the owner (Pascal) was the best thing about this B&B. He is knowledgeable, funny, French turned (partly) English, and the most welcoming host I've ever encountered. We travelled as a family of four with two teenagers (15, 17). Room size was fine. Breakfast emceed by Pascall starts your day off perfectly...you meet every other guest and get some local knowledge about what to see. Will definitely stay here again.

The cutest little Frenchmen greeted us and helped us with anything we needed during our stay. Our rooms and bathroom were clean and the breakfast was great in the morning. Perfect walking distance for two young people and great value. I would recommend this for anyone that just needs a place to stay.

We booked last minute without reading anything about it,as it was close to the town centre.we didn't know what we had let ourselves in for!!!Pascal is a truly wonderful host, warm, knowledgeable and (an adopted) great British eccentric!! Breakfast time is a hosting master class. Just sit back and enjoy the ride!it may be the first and last time your ever announced into breakfast!! But the stay was great, basic, but clean and just a few minutes walk from the centre.overall we would recommend this as a great b&b with a twist!!

This is my 2nd Visit to Salamander Guest house and it was undoubtedly as good as the 1st visit! It is great value for money, very clean and a brilliant location to all the main attractions. But the main attraction is Pascal. His knowledge of the local area, charm and witty anecdotes at breakfast are what make this a great stay!
