“Traditional Hotel in the heart of Stratford”
Reviewed October 22, 2013

We received as a wedding gift one night's stay at this hotel. The location could hardly be better for seeing Stratford as it is located in the centre of the town and a few minutes walk from the RSC, the historic core and Shakespeare's house.

We drove to the hotel, which is located on a one way system. However, there was no problem in navigating the short loop round to the hotel entrance. Word of warning: The car park is very confined and less confident drivers may struggle in navigating their vehicle to a space. There is also a lot of demand for spaces. We were reluctant to drive out in the evening for fear of losing our space! The hotel charges £3 per day for parking.

The hotel itself is a traditional building, with associated decor. However all fixtures and fittings are of a good standard throughout including the lobby, dining area and bar.

Our (standard) room was of an average size, however the bed was comfy and whilst traditionally decorated, it was clean and well maintained. The en-suite was also clean spacious enough and featured a shower/bath. There was a decent sized flat screen TV and tea and coffee making facilities. There were also plug sockets on each side of the bed - I always find this beneficial for charging mobiles that may be used as alarms!

I got one drink from the bar but it seemed quite expensive at £4.95 for a bottle of real ale so I didn't make a return trip.

Guests tended to be retired couples or groups and as such the hotel was nice and quiet at night. Breakfast was served in the pleasant dining room. We were seated promptly and served quickly. Cooked breakfasts are brought from the kitchen, which makes a nice change from self-service buffet affairs. There was also the option of cereals, toast, croissants, cheese and meat options. We each had a full English, which was prepared to a high standard.

Overall we enjoyed our stay at this hotel and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others.

Four of us ages 30 to 65 went to the Grosvenor for a Murder Mystery weekend and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
We had enough spare time for a good look round Stratford which with the help of the hop on hop off bus meant we saw all the main sites, from the hotel it is only a 2 minute level walk to the Tourist Office, so it is very central.
Our rooms were clean and comfortable and as they were at the back very quiet, there was adequate hot water. The hotel does have a maze of corridors, stairs, odd corners etc so it is possible to get a bit lost but there are signs everywhere to keep you on track.
We ate the usual Hotel breakfast which was very good, and served with a smile. Our other meals (dinners both nights) were not off the Hotel menu but were supplied with the murder mystery package, as the package was less than £200 per head (2nights with breakfast and inner) we were not expecting haute cuisine but the food was good and tasty and we thought great value.
All the staff we met were very polite and helpfull
We had a very good weekend and have no problem recommending.

Room Tip: We asked for a quiet room at he back, I suspect that a room at the front could be noisy as it is on...

Just stayed at this hotel on a Tesco Clubcard deal for 4 nights. Fast and efficient check in. Pleasant and friendly staff - especially Maya in the Restaurant. Room was spacious and airy, little noise apart from some bins being moved about in the mornings - but not a big problem.
Breakfast was fairly standard hotel food but was freshly cooked to order. Nice sausages - not the usual bottom of the range most hotels use. Room was clean and had everything we needed. Bed was very comfortable.

Very close to the centre - about 6 minute walk to the RSC theatre which was the reason for our visit.

The car park does tend to get very busy in the evenings but we managed to park every night and at a cost of £3 per day it seemed very reasonable.

Definitely our first choice when we return to Stratford again.

This hotel was a surprise, I booked online using booking.com and paid 55 pounds for a double room, when we reached the room it was comfy and clean. The staff were very good and we stayed for dinner at the restaurant, food was good, hot, and served without delay. Good choice on the menu and a good choice set menu too. This hotel is a short walk into Stratford and if you can get a good rate is well worth a short stay. Breakfast was ok, a little too jovial for my liking first thing in the morning but I'm sure others would like it. The car park is not big and the spaces are limited and tight for a family hatchback, they charge for overnight parking too so beware of this at checkout time. We would return when we go to Stratford again.

On arrival we were greeted by a competent and polite receptionist who was very helpful, booking in was quick and easy. We were given a choice of a ground or first floor room, we chose first floor and the room was situated overlooking the road. There was little or no road noise in the room and the room was well equipped and comfortable even if a little on the warm side, although a ceiling fan was more than capable of helping to maintain a comfortable temperature. Tea and coffee was provided and more could be had from reception if needed, and there was a TV with several channels to choose from.
We had breakfast on two mornings and an evening meal one evening, there was a good choice for both and each were well cooked and presented.
All the staff we met were very polite and helpful. We would certainly consider staying here again if we are in this area.
